Default Anniversary Present ideas

Right, so I'm planning my 1st year anniversary gift and it got me thinking. Yes, I know, I just got married, but despite illusions to the contrary, I'm quite romantic and put an awful lot of effort into being so.

However, I haven't come up with a lot of good ideas yet - nothing that screams out to be done. The first one is suppose to be paper anniversary and unlike an INTJ friend, I don't intend to get a ream of paper for our printer. So, I'm curious what other people have done, both in services and gifts.

Here's my current idea for my first;

1) I was planning on folding 365 orgami hearts, kind of one for every day of the year that we were together. Given enough time - and I could probably do this without too many issues, I was going to combine it with another idea - looking up a special event that happened on that day... the phrase would like be along the lines of "{This event} happened on {date}, but pales compared to spending one day with you". Rough phrasing - I'm still brainstorming.

2) I was also thinking about creating a giantic danish heart, roughly 2' by 2' in woven area, and folding it into 365 pieces (if you are curious behing the geometry behind this, don't ask... I'm still working it out). Similar principle. Probably put something inside it once it is done.

3) I was thinking about creating a paper mache statue - the only problem is that she'll want to keep that, which isn't really the point. It also doesn't show the same foresight unless I make an epic project out of it... and that's not my strength, really.

4) Of course, then there is the whole world of papercraft ( Peter Callesen ). I am contemplating doing that, since I've already done a few models (star wars, heh). Probably end up doing a few things like ( Chinese Dragon - Lucky Items - Paper CraftCanon CREATIVE PARK ) except holding a heart.

Anyway, I'm open to ideas. I'm not the best at coming up with what women like What do you think about the above ideas? What did your husband wife give you?

How about you build her a custom teddy bear at a teddy bear workshop? They have stores like that.

Maybe you can buy a birdcage (with birds in it)?

Personally, I don't think I'd like origami stuff.

Meh...I tried.

I think the 365 hearts could be cool.

Uber has given me the mental image of all those paper hearts with little wings flying out of a paper birdcage with maybe a note attached to one (or maybe written on the first few flying out one word at a time) that says something eye-wateringly soppy like "Your love set me free."

I have to admit, I probably wouldn't be much more thrilled with a gift of paper than I was with the bag of gravel my son gave me one year for mother's day. (And, you know, I still hate mother's day with a passion. It always sucks.)

For our first anniversary, my husband gave me a dozen roses and took me out to dinner. We went to the place where we had our wedding, as well.
