4. Jane Eyre
5. the Kent Family Chronicles--- my first exposure to adult historical fiction, loved it.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
1. literature because it's fun
2. biology to understand how life works

The interconnection between the higher human mind and the animal human body and the battle between.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?We're all interconnected and yet not the same. Differences are as important as similarities. We live in hollarchy not a hierachy but humans want to impose hierachy.
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
"Without Contraries is no progression. Attraction and Repulsion,
Reason and Energy, Love and Hate, are necessary to Human existence.
From these contraries spring what the religious call Good & Evil.
Good is the passive that obeys Reason. Evil is the active springing
from Energy. Good is Heaven. Evil is Hell."
William Blake
"Separated the stars from the mountains, and the mountains from man.
And left man groveling root outside himself that created negations where there had been "contraries":
Negations are not contraries: Contraries mutually exist but negations exist not. "
William Blake
"Such is the very death of the created being. We die to the extent that we fail to discriminate. For this reason the natural impulse of the created being is directed toward differentiation and toward the struggle against the ancient, pernicious state of sameness. The natural tendency is called Principium Individuationis (Principle of Individuation).
This principle is indeed the essence of every created being. From these things you may readily recognize why the undifferentiated principle and lack of discrimination are all a great danger to created beings. For this reason we must be able to distinguish the qualities of the Pleroma. Its qualities are the PAIRS OF OPPOSITES.."
Carl Jung
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? Delightful, fun and emotionally deep. Loyal. Value driven.

These questions so far are very INFP-biased.
That's why I asked for ISFP input. I can only ask from my own perspective, trying to assume from the ISFP perspective would be rather assumptive and possibly offensive if I asked sterotypical S v. N type questions.
But really I asked those questions because I *think* they delinate the difference but I don't really know if that's an assumption I make based on my own eperiences that may not be exactly correct and this board is a place to interact and ask those questions of the ISFPs directly whereas in offline life it isn't easily done.
- What activities do you like to do outdoors?
or What physical activities do you like to do?
People go outdoors?
I like to dance but I get vertigo now so dancing usually makes me sick, lol.

- Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
Be true to what you believe in and heal yourself as much as you can and try to align as close to the inner conscience as possible. Help those who want it and leave the rest alone. No one can force change on others. The world can only heal by each individual healing internally on their own time.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
Incarnations of Importality - For love of Evil (specific book in series)
I liked how it humanizes and shows the essential nature of evil. Without evil being a choice, how can you tell who is truely good and who is just acting good etc. Being evil with a purpose vs creating evil through slefishness (evil being the goal vs evil being a side effect). What causes people to become evil, what makes them stay that way?
Riftwar saga (series)
Good storytelling and believable characters and caharacter development.
Deathgate cycle (series)
I liked the complexities and plot twists, the character development and backstoryies are also well developed and intiricate.
Myth Inc (series)
A good just for fun book series. It was the series that got me into reading books (other than comic-books) at a fairly young age, and age may be a factor in my fond memories of it, but I suspect I'd still enjoy it if I re-read them now too.
Discworld (series)
In particular the book that introduces Mortimer, but all the books I've read in the series were great (but strangely, I don't really feel like I remember a whole lot about them other than doing a great job of making me laugh).
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
Japanese. I don't remember much of it now (aside from a few basic words and phrases), but I would read manga and watch un-sub-titled anime a lot when I was younger to try to see what words and phrases I could pick out.
Current world affairs is probably what turned me into a news/politics junkie (and a lot of that probably had to do with having a great enthusiastic charasimatic teacher for the class). But I don't actually read much news, and get it more through television, so I don't know if that applies to the question.
Edit/Add:
In school (both K-12 and College) I did not take any actual courses in humanities and only took the English course I absolutly had to to graduate, but I suspect if I had taken classes like Philosophy, Psychology, and Literature AND had a good teacher for those classes, I may have discovered those interestes much earlier in life than I did when I found how much they interested me from exploring on my own.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Yes, see first book choice above. :) The whole incarnations series I found to be great books, but I singled that one largly out for that reason (the one about god (good) also had soem memorable thought provoking ideas in it too).
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
Hehe, see above. And I answered these quesitions sequentialy before reading the next question too.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
A lot of my daydreams to some degree revolve around creating of that which does not exist but could. Sometimes its a tangible world or archetecture building or exploration thing, but sometimes its more along the lines of what the world would be like if x, y and z were true and/or a, b and c were false. In general imagining what could be. Sme more specifc but generic examples
Exploring a virtual world and building it as I go along.
Imaginign what a world would be like where automobiles were highly regulated and rare (not somethign available to the masses) but mass transportation was common and efficient.
Imagining what paths human devlopment might take if a group of humans could be raised for several generations without knowledge of the past and without religion (take something like "The Vilage" and set it in space on a newly colonized planet and remove any religios component to their upbringing)
Edit/Add:
Daydreams about coversations are common for me as well. Conversations that could potentialy occur, replaying past conversations and imaginign how things might have been different if I said/did different things as well as imagining conversations with people/creatures both real and fictious that I will probably never meet.
6. what is fascinates you most?
Motivations - the question of why people/animals do things and make decisions - what inputs/factors were important to them in their decision/reaction and how much thought have they givent he implications of their actions/wrods etc.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
I do think about it, but have no answers or anything I can truly say I beleive to be absolutly true about it. It is a question that leads to more questions and those questions also usually don't have specific answers, but they are important to ask. Even if we will never know the right answer (or even if there is a right answer), we can find/create an answer on either an individual or collective leve that give us reasons to do things and help us create a framework to act within that our conscience will help us shape and adapt to (of course a lot of people follow a system others have established that does not align with their conscience and I consider that unfortunate when they might be much more happy/content if they found or created a system that matches their values).
Please add questions to broaden the comparison!
Thats enough serious thinking for one day for me, but maybe later as another message. :)

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
I haven't really read much fiction since school. I read a lot of non fiction. Mostly laymans psychology stuff on creativity, engagement, flow, intuition etc.
In school I loved the Conan series.
Why? He was very strong.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
Tech drawing, biology, sex ed :newwink:
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Does reading and watching The Power of Myth with Joseph Campbell count?
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
Yes and No.
Isn't it humans are expedient and some have screwed up mental models?
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
Sex and fighting.
I'd never hurt a fly but these two fill my daydreams.
6. what is fascinates you most?
Sex and fighting. Creativity, psychology.
How to achieve full engagement in daily life.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
I just tried but I thought my head might explode.
THAT reminds me! My favourite books in school were the Hitchhikers Guide books.
Why? The world that Adams created was very cool.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type?
ISFP, Dude you're just like me.
INFP, I'm sorry I'm just not that deep.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
Look at what they talk about. Concrete and abstract.
Ask.
10. What kind of resturant would you like to run?
A small restaraunt way out in the country.
A Pizza/Bakery Shop.
Pretty much the same customers coming everyday.
Laid back atmosphere. 2 or 3 reliable helpers.
Time to develop new items when I feel like it.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
The Ender Series, Wrinkle in Time series, Chronicles of Narnia, and others that I can't remember the names right now. Mostly, I like epics.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
Psychology, Astronomy (although that drive is gone now), Astrology, and Religious Studies.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Absolutely.
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
How? No. Why? Yes.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
Typically, me fighting this epic battle against some evil oppressor (it varies, and can get quite in depth), being an ideal huspand/father, what it would be like if I was sent back in time to when I was three, yet kept my mental facilities, and some others. I daydream alot.
Texas Tech winning the Big 12 in football,
Same here. I have one where I'm this unstoppable running back (Think Earl Campbell, Barry Sanders, and Walter Payton rolled into one), who just absolutely shatters every possible running record, leading Tech to 4 straight National Titles.
6. what fascinates you most?
I'd have to say Good vs. Evil in a well written story. That includes twists, rhythm, vocabulary (somewhere in the middle, so the words don't dampen the anchor the story).
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
:cheese: Typical Shakespearean viewpoint.
Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game?
OU 34 UT 20.
Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in?

Good point, you are an INFP, but I don't think it's impossible to try to invent questions that may be more in between. It's difficult I suppose, I am an INFP too, but just because we are INFPs doesn't mean we can't imagine something else. I wasn't meaning for it to sound like a huge complaint, mainly an observation.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
So far (because I haven't read a ton I would like to):
- Brothers Karamazov (Never read fiction like this with such philosophically and psychologically engaging plot and conflict and insights)
- The Pillars of the Earth (Very fun plot to read and enjoyed the historical aspect of it, especially descriptions of cathedrals)
These aren't really my favourites, but ones I really enjoyed, so close enough:
- Pride and Prejudice (mostly because I think Mr Darcy is great haha)
- Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (I actually didn't want to put it down, or for it to end. I dunno, it was so fun to read)
- Cat's Cradle (Fascinating, I loved the idea of the Bokonists, however I didn't really understand the entire novel when I first read it, and it's something I want to reread)
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
Psychology/Anthropology/Sociology, Philosophy
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Not quite, but I am vaguely fascinated on what ethics is and how we determine what is ethical or not.
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
I want to understand what makes something considered 'evil'
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
Love :)
Freedom
6. what is fascinates you most?
People, and life itself.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
It exists.
EDIT to add :
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
I don't know if I know other ISFPs or how well I know them, but I suppose they are quite likeable. I can be rather close to an ISFP myself, so yea... haha
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
How deeply do they like to go into some matters? INFPs tend to like to analyse things a bit more deeply than ISFPs I think. Otherwise... beats me.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
I guess 1984 was the only fiction book I've read in recent memory that I liked at the same time.I don't read much books unless I have a burning desire to do so. Other than that, I do enjoy Calvin and Hobbes.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
History was the only one that extended out of the classroom I suppose.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Somewhat. It's more focused on policing myself instead of observing it in the world.
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
What's not to understand?
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
Usually having imaginary conversations, concocting up some dream videogame, or just wondering what a SO would be like...
6. what is fascinates you most?
The most? That would surely have to individuality. Not only in myself but in others too (and the lack thereof). Nothing seems to hold my interest more than seeing someone attempt to define themselves by external standards and all the while you can't help but have pity for them because you know they're going through a crisis of identity.

They can connect with each other as much as they like as long as they leave me alone when I will so.

I haven't had much experience with ISFP's much really, just one acquaintance and a co-worker is all. From what I could tell, both were honest and genuinely nice people.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
Wow, there are so many choosing five is just killing me. Best I can do is narrow it down to 5 series of books:
The death gate cycle by margaret weis and tracy hickman
The wheel of time series by robert jordan
The liveship traders by robin hobb
The vampire chronicles by Anne Rice
Charlottes web from way back when I was young
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
My favourite subject was English, so reading fiction for pleasure for the lesson was about as good as it gets. I need plenty of caffeine to read non fiction.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
All the time, never stop thinking about it.
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
Yes.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
being able to fly, having magical abilities, going back in time to learn things or change things, going forward in time to see what comes next.
6. what is fascinates you most?
Our purpose for living.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
I don't see much of an interconnection, I read once that spiritual people see some kind of great connection between people and all that is around them, at times I believe I see a part of something bigger than me and my coerner of the world, and at others there is no connection, just empty spaces where people remain seperate.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
I don't know any.

11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
For some reason I'm thinking Oz, scarecrows and how little I appreciate art.
12. - Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really, the golden rule I guess, other than that my philosophy changes as I grow.
13. Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game? (from Jeffster)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sports, foreign sports? now where did I put my book.
14. Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
I believe you can have both, people who just are bad for no reason traceable down their history, and you can have people who are bad from what they have been through.
15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)
I'd be a willow tree, and I wouldn't want to be made into anything other than what I am, a willow tree.

8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
I can't really say, but it seems that they're rather similar to me, for the most part.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
I don't know. It appears ISFPs don't daydream as frequently as INFPs, so probably that.
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? (from Placebo)
or What physical activities do you like to do?
Hiking, walking, playing a non-competitive game of basketball, or just throwing a ball around. Also driving long distances (endurance counts right?)
I work out almost every day, but I wouldn't say that I like it.
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
I feel weird looking at it. Not something I'd buy.
12. - Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is is it?
To improve myself
14. Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
I guess I'll answer my own quetion. I believe that those who are evil don't necessarily do bad deeds, whereas those who do bad deeds aren't necessarily evil.
15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)

4. do you want to understand how evil works?

5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
this is embarassing. i daydream about being somewhere else, with someone else, in another world. I also daydream about conversations i will have in the future. I often take an upcoming event and daydream exactly what it will be like, or i will make up an imaginary event, like "what would happen if i had dated that person" and i will go through my whole life in a day dream with them. i'm weird.
6. what is fascinates you most?
Brady.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is? I believe our only true connection is that we are human beings. Most human beings can connect to a human being, because they are also human beings, but what about deeper connections?
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
I think the only one i've met in real life is Jeffster and i love Jeffster. I love his enthusiasm, and silliness.

I think this site puts what I admire most about ISFP's into words. It is talking about them as parents but really could also describe them as friends.:
ISFP - Introverted Feeling with Sensing (http://www.murraystate.edu/secsv/fye/IsFp.htm)
Different types find it difficult to understand the ISFP's low need for control or influence. Clearly, it is intended to allow others to grow more freely, although the ISFP's quiet, subtle style may never receive full credit.
Children learn that the ISFP parent is always near, very much in touch with the child's needs, and very supportive and loving of the child's development, but in a quiet and unassuming way. "Love" is not so much spoken as it is displayed--quietly, and in myriad ways. "Nothin' says lovin' like something from the oven" could be an ISFP motto. The cookies or dollhouse furniture or handmade sweaters are symbols that say, "I love you." An ISFP's child knows he or she is loved because in these kindly acts and gentle deeds, love is conveyed...

Yeah, heart, I like that one too. There's like 3 or 4 lines from "Please Understand Me II" that I think are just awesome as well, and this might be the one I like the best (at least right this moment):
"Drawn to the improvising side of tactical intelligence, Entertainers are the friendly, fond-hearted Artisans, those SPs who want to amuse or to charm others, and whose first impulse is to inform those around them by making or showing them something beautiful or exciting."
He's actually talking about both ISFPs and ESFPs there, but that sums me up like perfectly. I want to amuse and charm others, and more than anything what I like to do is make or show people something beautiful or exciting. Or preferably both. :D

To Hirsch: I am curious if you would have answered any of the questions differently ere turning 35-40?
Yes. I mentioned in the forum previously that growing up and through my 20's my preferences were very ISTJ. I'm pretty sure I was not meant to be one...and circumstances simply pushed me into that set of preferences as a survival tactic.
I was a fan of Jane Eyre since I first saw the old film...another seminal film for my world view was titled "the Blue Angel" with Marlene Dietrich and Emyl Jannings...Of course it wasn't until my 20's when I realized I could actually read about these things...
As for the "tree" reference...some of you may have heard of Barbara Walters, who over the years has done a number of highly publicized television interviews of celebrities and politicians, usually well recieved. During one of these she asked the guest (I cannot remember who) "what kind of tree would you like to be?" which I believe flummoxed the guest and baffled viewers. So as a sort of light-hearted joke I offered it here and since I am a furniture maker I added the tag about making something out of you. A cultural reference that I guess fell flat so please disregard.....

2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
English/Comp Lit
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?

6. what is fascinates you most?

3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Not fascinated, but aware of it.
4. do you want to understand how evil works?

5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
The last time I had sex.
The next time I will have sex.
The dinner I ate last night.
The dinner I will eat tonight.
6. what is fascinates you most?
Honestly, people. I am always baffled and amazed at what people do. Not really their motivations for doing things, but what they are doing.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
It is what it is. People come from dirt, and will eventually return to it. Enjoy being above it for as long as you can.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type?
From what I read here, they have a much better ability to imagine all the possibilities that I would never even think of. I have a good imaginiation when it comes to immediate things, but N's seem to be able to see all the potential outcomes, like Nick Cage in that movie "Next".
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
I would hand them a blob of clay. I would think that the S would start making something right away, while the N would imagine what it could be made into first.
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? or What physical activities do you like to do?
Camping, hiking, biking, rollerblading.
I especially like swimming in really big lakes. Not the ocean though, ocean freaks me out with its bigness.
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)?

15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you?
Palm tree, with my branches blowing in a hot summer breeze, preferably on Key West.

What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
They seem to be easy to get along with, but I don't knowingly know enough of them to have much of an opinion about them that is not based in theory. In theory I think they would be good friends for doing things with, but not so good for long theoretical and philosophical conversations. :)
If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
From the responses in this thread - Ask them if they think a lot about good and evil and the roles of those aspects of humanity in shaping past, present and future. If they say yes, they are probably not an ISFP. :)
What activities do you like to do outdoors? (from Placebo)
or What physical activities do you like to do?
Walking/Hiking
I used to enjoy Biking and Swimming when I was younger, but don't do those very often anymore (no good/safe places to bike without lots of traffic anymore here (used to be several great dirt race tracks when I was a kid, but those have been replaced with housing developments now :( ), and too self conscious of my shape to do much swimming)
How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
It looks like a puzzle that may also need color adjustments and may or may not actually be able to make a real picture if rearranged. The top portion looks good, but the bottom ugh, it makes me want to chop it up and see if I could put it together to make it look a bit easier on the eyes.
Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
Find the path thats right for you and follow it.
Be true to yourself - but to do that, you must first seek to understand yourself.
Seek to understand yourself and pay attention to how you feel about things. Reflect on those feelings and use it as a compass to help look for paths that could lead to inner peace, happiness and fulfillment. If you are doing something that makes you feel uncomfortable, try to analyze the situation and find what value conflict is causing it and see if you can either avoid that situation or find a way to go about it that will be acceptable to your values.
Let you feeling and intuition be your guide, learn to listen to them and eventually they may help you see things that would otherwise be overlooked.
Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game? (from Jeffster)
I have close to zero interest in athletic competition, but my guess would be that there is some other team(s) that will benefit more from the potential outcome than the actual teams playing.
Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
I believe that some people are born without a conscience which is not quite the same thing as being born evil, but it does give them a very high probability they will do things in their life that would be considered evil.
For those born in good health, I think we are all born with the potential for both good and evil, but environment we are raised in has a huge impact on that. I'd like to believe that for most, there is a natural gravitation toward goodness, but it is counterbalanced by the selfishness of human nature and it is learning to temper those selfish desires that make the difference between good and evil with most people hovering around a neutral point with moments of both in moderation.
If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)
A pine tree, and I'd if I had to be made into something, a walking stick so I could still travel and not be stuck in one location all the time.
What kind of resturant would you like to run?
A restaurant that specializes in potatoes.
International House of Potatoes! :)

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
- Gone With The Wind - Scarlett O'Hara is an awesome character. I mean, she's pretty much an awful, greedy, manipulative person...but the author manages to make you love her anyway.
- The Divine Comedy - I just kinda like the world and atmosphere it portrays
- Stranger in a Strange Land - Religion and philosophy in a way I manage to understand.
- Books by Terry Pratchett - They make me laugh
- Tess of the d'Urbervilles - I like books that make me feel an emotion.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
Anatomy and physiology :nerd:
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Not especially
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
Not especially
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
Sex, food, babies...I'm pretty simple :)
6. what fascinates you most?
Hmm, I'm not sure yet.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
I really like how it was described in Asimov's short story "The Last Question"
EDIT to add :
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
They seem to be pretty daydreamy. I definitely have a lot in common with INFPs, and sometimes think I tend towards that type. I think a lot of them see something of themselves reflected in me, and form an attachment because of this. But then sometimes it feels like they project their own personality traits on me, if that makes sense.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
INFPs frequently seem to be attracted to fantasy/mythological art...
----------------------------------------------------------
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? (from Placebo)
or What physical activities do you like to do?
I enjoy sailing, swimming, hiking, camping...I'm pretty open to new outdoor activities.
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
The bottom half is very jarring. The angles of the fields make it seem like the planes stick out oddly and unexpectedly.
12. - Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
I have two goals - become a better person through experiences, and improve the world for other people. Kinda cliche, I know, but it works for me.

13. Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game? (from Jeffster)
HOOK 'EM HORNS!

Also, I totally only replied to this thread to rub it in the face of any OU fans out there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
14. Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
I don't know the life story of every "evil" person out there, but it certainly seems like there are plenty of people who turn out crazy and dangerous in environments that produce good people.
15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)
Hm, I think I would like to be a cypress. And if I were a tree, I wouldn't want anybody to cut me down and turn me into furniture or whatever. Sorry, Hirsch :(
1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
I cannot for the life of me make it through reading a book. The last time I finished one was 4 years ago and that was a requirement while I was in school.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for
pleasure.
I didn't enjoy much of school but if I had to choose I'd probably read more into World History/Cultures.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
It's not something that stands out to me, there are many more interesting things.
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
Not particularly.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
My escapist ones, anything involving me not being where I am right now.
6. what is fascinates you most?
Human perception.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
That sounds to me like it is digging into metaphysics, something I like to not think about much.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
The way that they apply their ideas instead of just pondering them makes me jealous.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
"I'm the worst person to ask, I am still unsure of myself."
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? (from Placebo)
or What physical activities do you like to do?
Long walks through unknown areas, I also greatly enjoy swimming and anything in or on the water.
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
The upper half is very pleasing to the eye, which is a direct contrast to the bottom. Perhaps the artist wanted to show the difference between the natural landscape and that which has been altered by humans, but he or she didn't need to be a dick about it. That stuff hurts my eyes.
12. - Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
No philosophy.
13. Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game? (from Jeffster)
I'd say Texas, because everyone I know from Texas takes the game so damn seriously.
14. Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
It is most definitely a reaction to the environment, but every person reacts differently to various things.
15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)
Some old growth Acacia Koa made into a wonderful acoustic guitar.
I'll address two.
I am very interested in the subject of human evil and have studied it through reading, talking to others and observation.
I believe everyone has to decide for themselves what the purpose of life is. For me it is in growth to my potential, working for the positive, and taking joy from the gifts of existence.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
Hmm... haven't read much fiction lately and much of what I've read when I was younger doesn't feel so influential anymore. Of the little I've recently read, The Sheep Look Up by John Brunner stands out.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
History. I would cut my history class to read my history book. The history teacher at my high school was also the school band conductor. Most often he would be off organizing field trips for the band rather than teaching class. The students would fool around and play cards. I saw no point in going.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Yes. Maybe. Is there a duality or can't they blur?
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
Not sure, can't really say.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
ACCESS DENIED
6. what is fascinates you most?
It changes from day to day.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
I believe that humans are a part of all that is, belong to all that is and are in no way special or entitled to do as they please with this world. Our culture tells us that our "superior intelligence" allows us to do whatever we will and that our ingenuity will overcome any obstacle. I think it will bite us in the ass in the end. We foolishly look to control the world, rather than look to build a relationship with it.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
If I've run into any of them, I haven't identified them as such.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
I think the ISFPs would be the ones wearing a cape and tights with an 'S' imprinted across the chest.
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? (from Placebo) or What physical activities do you like to do?
Hiking, gardening, and (foolishly) walking late at night. I take martial arts, but only make it to class every couple of weeks. The combination of physical activity in a social setting really drains me, and other activities take precedence. Maybe if the class were smaller I'd make it more often.
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
Heinous. It's been entirely taken over, invaded and put to human use. Entire eco-systems cleared and replaced with monocrop farms.
12. - Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
ACCESS DENIED
13. Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game? (from Jeffster)
Who's gonna win the what now? OU? Oregan University?
14. Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
I think it's a reaction to the environment they were raised in and a society that's poorly suited to dealing with it.
15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)
I would be a California Live Oak, because I belong where I'm at. You wouldn't make anything out of me because I can take a long time to grow and am often small and gnarly. I'm of better service if left alone and my acorns are used as food. In my old age I enjoy falling on people named Hirsch.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
I don't read fiction that much. The closest to fiction I read is mythology. In case it counts, Poetic Edda has some wonderful stuff. Like "Prophecy of the Seeress", very powerful images:
Brothers will battle to bloody end,
And sisters' sons their sibs betray;
Woe's in the world, much wantonness;
Axe-age, sword-age -- sundered are shields --
Wind-age, wolf-age, ere the world crumbles;
Will the spear of no man spare the other.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
Biology, geology, philosophy, english, religion, art class, I liked almost every subject. But, not math except geometry (this rules out chemistry and physics, too) I don't like numbers that much...
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Some bit...
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
I think I do understand. It is just sick or ignorant people. Not too complicated.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
Enlightenment,
the end of this civilization.
6. what is fascinates you most?
Zen,
living in a moment.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
You can get vibes from everything, but it is probably psychology more than real energy.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
Not sure if I know them, but SPs in general are fun people.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
Ask if he likes watching sport channel or science/history channel.
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? (from Placebo)
or What physical activities do you like to do?
Walking; watching trees, animals and people. Hanging around. Drinking in parks, barbecue, swimming and diving.
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
Awesome. The colors are very good, except for the sky. The composition is fine, but the mountain is too balanced for my liking.
12. - Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
Be what you are without regrets (or at least try).
13. Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game? (from Jeffster)
What is that?
14. Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
Some people are born sick and do evil things. Others are born ok, but twisted into something that is not who they are supposed to be, so in extreme cases they do evil things.
15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)
Pine. I want him to make me ladders to the sky (without cutting my roots), but only if I am dying.

I used to believe evil was only due to ignorance but as I've gotten older I've had to face the facts that some people are very intelligent, very aware and still chose evil over good. They are not ignorant of what they do. I now believe it is a mistake to equate doing good with intelligence or higher consciousness. There is something more at the heart of what makes a person chose good or evil.
I liked my earlier explanation for evil better, it was very neat and tidy, gave more hope, but I can't ignore what my own experiences teaches me either. The problem of good vs. evil is extremely complex. No easy answers, no panceas.

I rarely watch TV and when I do it's usually just light entertainment (Conan O'Brien or a couple of select shows on Adult Swim). I'd probably be fine without TV.

1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
The Chronicles of Narnia - because they're probably the last fiction books I finished, many, many years ago! I'm not a fiction reader.
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
Psychology, health.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Yes, very much! Right now I'm actually reading "The Dark Side of the Light Chasers" by Debbie Ford. I'm very interested in the "shadow".
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
I don't believe in "evil" but rather manifestations of shadow.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
What daydreams? I "daythink".
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
Humans are energy, and the universe is energy. That's about all the connection there is for me.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
Creative; deeply insightful; sensitive; overly emotional; fantastical.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
ISFP's are more "down to earth" whereas INFP's are more "head in the clouds".
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? (from Placebo)
or What physical activities do you like to do?
I love the beach. I love the feeling of the sun on my face. I'm more of a passive enjoyer of nature - I don't like outdoor sports. I'd rather lay in a field of grass.
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
Overall, it's annoying. It makes me feel anxious, and there aren't many opportunities for relief. My eyes want to focus on the depictions of water and on the few wavy patterns.

In my opinion people like that are in some ways sick. Maybe sociopath, psychopath, whatever. I believe there must be, in human nature, written on the genes or soul (whichever you tend to believe) a code to help the community a person belongs to. Why would anyone, if he acknowledges good from evil, choose evil for his people? If the code is not obeyed, it must be either that the code is not read (in case of sick people) or that the code is read wrong (in case of negative influence of environment).
BTW, could you give us an example of this kind of evil person?
But what if we like both?
That makes you INxP... of course.

Please do and I hope Sunshine and Sarah come in with some too and broaden the field some.
Heart's asking for my opinion! :wubbie: All right then, here are my answers...
1. name your five favorite fiction books (and why).
To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee -- because it moves me to tears every single time I read it. It's beautifully written, and I love Atticus Finch.
Middlemarch, by George Eliot -- I re-read parts of this one every few years. I love the characterizations (btw, Dorothea Brooke is a good example of a fictional NF, and I personally think the delightful Fred Vincy is an ISFP.)
All Creatures Great and Small --actually, all of the James Herriot books -- doesn't matter which one, I love all those stories. Herriot's writing style makes me laugh no matter how many times I've re-read the same stories and know the punchlines.
Pride and Prejudice (forget the boring, snobby Darcy--- his friend BINGLEY was the true hero of the book!!!!) and Sense and Sensibility (becasue the passionate Marianne Dashwood was totally an introverted feeling type and I relate very much to her.
Any of Josephine Tey's mysteries, -- I love the atmosphere and the laid-back "detecting". I reread Tey whenever I want some "comfort reading."
2. your favorite subjects from school that you would actually read for pleasure.
I spent more time creating art than reading about it, but one of my favorite books that I recommend to everyone who's interested is Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, by Betty Edwards. I got that book as a gift when I was 12 years old and it changed my life. :)
I adored my French language classes, actually. I never "studied" for exams because I simply learned the material out of sheer love of listening to it.
3. are you fascinated in the duality of good vs. evil, light vs. dark?
Kind of, yes, but not in a purely abstract way. I'm more fascinated with the Jungian idea of the shadow, as well as the idea that human beings have the capacity for both good and evil in them, and that it's our daily choices in the here-and-now that determine our character.
4. do you want to understand how evil works?
I want to understand how I personally might be tempted to do evil so that I don't go there.
5. what are the topics of some of your favorite daydreams?
Accomplishing things I've always wanted to do -- and receiving praise for them. I always daydream about taking action that gets great results. ;)
6. what fascinates you most?
Noticing beauty in the ordinary -- and then capturing, highlighting and intensifying that pleasure via my art!!!! Owning my shadow side so I can be a more well-rounded person. Also, the way human relationships evolve over time fascinates me.
7. what do you think about the interconnection between humans and all that is?
I'm afraid that's maybe an easy question for INFPs to answer, but not me. I'm not really tuned in to interconnectedness the same way you see it.
8. What's your impression of the other IxFP type? (from SciSki)
One of my closest friends is an INFP, and although I don't understand her lack of practicality sometimes, I love her and admire her for her thoughtfulness. I also think she's a wise person. I also highly respect an INFP who runs a type discussion list that I'm a member and one of the moderators of (the Yahoo groups list "temperamenttalk"). He and I have met in person and I consider him a friend, although not a close one. We've had a lot of arguments over type-related stuff in the past, but I think there's this mutual appreciation that keeps us communicating and still talking about type despite our disagreements. I'd say that INFPs tend to be less interested in details of practical living, and also many of them seem less interested in actually doing art than in talking about it.
9. If someone asks you what clues to look out for in deciding if someone is ISFP or INFP, what would you say?
I would send them right to a book or website that explains the cognitive processes. You can't really understand the difference between ISFP and INFP if you don't know how strongly the auxilliary and tertiary functions influence behavior. I'd encourage them to actually try DOING the cognitive function exercises in Dario Nardi's book 8 Keys to Self-Leadership: From Awareness to Action, to actually get a feel for how easy it is to do one and not the other.
10. What activities do you like to do outdoors? or What physical activities do you like to do?
Taking long walks, gardening, cross country skiing (not all that great at it, but it's fun). I take yoga classes currently and am enjoying them. I love to dance. I love to cook. I love to draw and create collages. I love to make even boring chores fun by turning them into a game --usually a game that involves dancing or creating something aesthetically pleasing. Can I also count entertaining kids in the library (part of my job) as a physical activity? Dancing to music with beanbags and shaker eggs is fun (you should try it sometime.)
11. - How would you describe this picture (briefly)? http://www.norcalwater.org/images/ncwa_painting.jpg
It's a fantasy landscape of colors and well-defined shapes. This particular landscape isn't particulary evocative of anything to me. I guess I prefer art that draws you in towards appreciating the beauty of reality rather than being purely fantasy-based, although you could say that it encourages you to look for hints of these colors in a natural landscape the next time you're sitting in a window seat in an airplane.
12. - Do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it?
I never really put it into words before, but I guess my philosophy has always been to understand my essence (what's essential to me, what I believe is important) and to find a creative outlet for expressing it. I love what someone once told me about our essence being related to our type's core needs, so with that in mind I'd say my core needs have a lot to do with expressing in the present moment what I deeply care about and why, and making sure I have the freedom to act on my own instincts. I also believe in respecting other people and treating them as I would prefer being treated, which is to say, not necessarily exactly the same (because everyone's different) but to listen to them, respect their answers, and treat them as THEY wish to be treated.
13. Who do you think's going to win the Texas v. OU game? (from Jeffster)
For Jeffster's sake, I'll say I hope Texas wins, but honestly I don't care much for pro sports.
14. Do you believe that some people are born evil, or is it a reaction to the environment in which they were raised in? (from Neo-Genesis)
I believe, like Alexandr Solzhenitsyn says, that the line running between good and evil runs through all of us, not just those who have made some seriously bad decisions. And that it's our daily choices that determine our overall character. I think character is shaped by a desire to grow personally, and accepting that you need to grow as a person is an essential act, and also an act of humility. I'm all for everyone becoming aware of their own shadow side as well as the side they want to present on an every day basis, because it seems to me that people who understand and own their darker side (meaning that they recognize it exists, they know the shape it takes, and they can find healthy ways of expressing it) don't feel as much of a need to hurt others who display their shadow, much less commit acts of evil.
15. If you were a tree, what kind would you be, and what would you like hirsch to make out of you? (by Hirsch)
A pear tree. Because they have beautiful wood, and beautiful fruit. Basically, they're beautiful all around. Birch trees run a close second, because I love their lithe, graceful appearance and mottled bark. ;)

I agree totally. I feel passionate about creating physical beauty in my surroundings, and it give me a huge "high" when when others appreciate it. As far back as I can remember, I was always going around giving people gifts of stuff I'd made for them or drawn for them.
I also like these lines from Berens book on temperament:
"Given their core need to have impact, Artisans [SPs] are skilled at making even the most mundane act a performance."
"Very often, Artisans love to entertain with their performances from flamboyance to a quiet remark that makes people laugh."
