As some of you may know myself and Cafe have become addicted to this game which is very bad so now I am trying to get all my crap done during the day so I can play at night. If you want to join our group we are Night Elves and my name is Foofarina.

OMG.

Four druids???? (Actually, it seemed pretty devastating last night; it was letting us stack the same DoT attack on things, ouch! And then yuo can just trade off and heal.)

Fine, I am working on a gnome warrior named Mitzzi and I will get her over to Night Elf land somehow, to help out.

Since I am in the process of getting more social I have found people to play WoW with.

Actually it is quite shameful that I haven't started before.

I think that I will choose Gnome-warlock combination.

How fast can person advance in WoW? In Diablo2 I can get in one day to level 50.

We all have to be one or the other.

(It's a new server for me too, all of my toons are on mostly Sentinel or Feathermoon.)

At least you don't have to stand near Tooterina Fooferina when she's passing gas.

It takes some time to get used to, and setting up your control bar. Plus you and Jen did not realize how to train your powers, so we will have to make sure you are up to snuff since you're playing druids. :)

Draenai is not really that bad, it's just a straight run on the road to the boat that takes you straight to the docks of Darkshore.

I brought my gnome over to Teldra last night. that was a pain in the bottom, let me tell you -- a longer hike AND with nastier things along the way. I bet the whole run (stopping to get one flight path on the way) took me like 20 minutes or more to make. I got killed before I emerged in the wetlands, and luckily it rezzed me halfway across the zone, then I died AGAIN and materialized right next to the boats, so that was very cool and saved me time, but it was hell on my armor. :(

Oooh, are you gonna be a healer/buffer or a shadowpriest?

Yah, I got it installed and I'll get on :)

I'll actually be whatever you guys need/is optimal. I already have a char of every class on Draenor, which I'm planning on levelling if I'm not out with you guys, so the class doesn't matter to me at all. I'll avoid hunters - they just don't group well, I find.

My tendency, with multiple druids, is to pick a burst damage character, or a limited down-time character. However, it depends on the styles. Healer -> tanks and rogue (druids in those forms). Mage -> natural druids. Any sort of multi-combination is best served with shamans or paladins though, hmm.

Wait, I'm overthinking this again, aren't I? Ah well :D

What's the general group look like? Any hole I can sometimes fill? :) Planning on doing dungeons?

Just wanted to put this link up here for the new people playing, it really helps a lot.

Quest Helper (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/quest-helper/download/263436.aspx)

Click on the "Manual Install" button on that page, and it will download a zip file. Open the zip and extract the contents to you C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns directory and you are good to go.

Basically what it does it put waypoints on your map and minimap to show you where you need to go and what you need to do for your quests. It works out the most efficient order to do them based on travel time, your level, and difficulty. It even has a small yellow arrow that points you which way to go.

I never used it before, but after about 30 times through all the same starter areas, it has helped tons and made the grind less grindy.

INFIDEL!!!!!

Off with his head.

As far as mix, there were two druids, and I started a gnome warrior (to tank). SP did a hunter (?). So anything else is up for grabs. If one of the druids goes feral, that could be another tank OR a DPS depending on how they branch.

Probably looking for either spellcaster (warlock/mage) or a priest/shaman.

Yeah, got my hunter up to 18 over the weekend, just so I could offer some help to those others coming up in level. Spent way too much time in that Relics of Wakening cave this weekend, I was beginning to call it home.

I am shooting (get it, shooting, hunter? lol...) to be 30 by the end of the week, but we'll see how that goes.

I have plenty of gold coming in so far so as soon as people get off their trial accounts I can send anyone money that might need it.

Oh, and keep in mind, there will be a huge patch hitting tomorrow which includes all of the new Wrath of the Lich King talents, and my personal favorite, barber shops :D

i did that question accompanied by a level 15 hunter friend I met (she was cool), as a level 10 warrior. It was a pain in the butt, mostly because there are four things to find, I always get lost because the tunnels are 3D but the map is 2D, and everything keeps respawning and you have to be careful in what you aggro.

Honestly, I guess it's a good "intro dungeon" for newbs, it teaches you good aggro techniques and teaming methods. You have to be able to stop runners too.

Cool. The hunter I met was so sweet, she gave me 2g because she liked me and thought I was a nice person. :) I was dying for gear at that point, warriors need good stuff.

the biggest bummer about doing stuff on a new server is that I can't fund my low-levels with my high level toons.

I was thinking of the same thing. i actually have to work for money now, and it's painful. It's a nice throwback to the beginning days though, and kinda fun. I just grabbed mining and skinning, and the copper is going for 2G per stack, so that will help a bit.

We need a tailor to make us some darn bags, that's been my main hiccup so far; no more bag space.

I ended up taking herbalism and alchemy with my warrior, but I could start my druid on tailoring.

Yeah, I think the copper prices are so high for any upcoming Jewelcrafters. The thing that will truly make some bank is the low level herbs, at least in the coming weeks while people are leveling the new Inscription profession. A lot of the early herbs you gather should net close to 3G per stack if not more.

That will definitely help in getting a mount at 30 now instead of 40.

The release date for the Expansion is November 13th, but they are doing the preliminary release of talents and such like they did for Burning Crusade tomorrow. Servers will be down tomorrow until 5PM EST but here is what will be added when you log back in:

New class spells and talents
Stormwind Harbor
Barbershops in capital cities
Zeppelin towers outside of Orgrimmar and Tirisfal Glades
Two brand-new Arenas featuring challenging new layouts, terrain hazards, and moving obstacles
Guild calendar
Hunter pet skill revamp
New profession: Inscription

This patch will also cause all your talents to reset to 0, so make sure you spend them again when you log in.

That is fun to me at least. I love the leveling part, all the little stupid quests that we do in leveling up. I am also a fashion whore in game, and collect clothing like a crazy person. Even if an outfit gives me better stats, I still wear the weaker stuff cause it looks better.

This is why I am so excited about the barber shop tomorrow. I will probably blow tons of gold every other day changing my hairstyle.

You two are freaking me out.

My trial ends today and my BofA visa blocks payments to Blizzard entertainment (too much identity theft) and suggested that I purchase a prepaid card which I did and Blizzard doesn't accept those so unless they have magic powers and can bend the rules I may not be playing WoW which is probably for the best since I have to tear myself away and am finding the whole billing thing frustrating. :D

I had more fun in Second Life with clothes styles, it was disappointing in WoW that you could not customize your own styles, but maybe the options will continue to expand.

This is why I am so excited about the barber shop tomorrow. I will probably blow tons of gold every other day changing my hairstyle.

That part DID sound cool.

CoH has costume and hair style changes as part of their system, and you'd get "costume slots" as you leveled.

WHAT?

That's such a crock. I can't believe they would uniformly block payments to Blizzard. How stupid.

If you buy prepaid Wow cards, blizzard should be accepting them. I mean, they put them out!

so unless they have magic powers and can bend the rules I may not be playing WoW which is probably for the best since I have to tear myself away and am finding the whole billing thing frustrating. :D

I know you will still need to buy the retail game for $19.99 or whatever it is at now. With that comes 1 month free, then you pay $14.99 per month after that. The game card only pays for the monthly fee, not the actual game.

Too much repetition. Do this, go there, level up, with no end in sight. Too much like real life.

That's the problem. And it gets worse. Get far enough, and you wind up running into mass-group scheduling difficulties and worse (think trying to schedule a particular conference room at work with a meeting of 50 people... and then find 50 other people there who won't leave - it generally goes downhill from there). They're more fun casually, with friends you know, I think. But it's easy to get started on the slippery slope to joining the rat race.

yup, i'll go with you. That maze is a little confusing, it's really a 3d maze of sorts... :) I won't be able to go until tonight though, probably around 9-10pm.

I did load up EQ-for-the-mac last night for the first time... it's odd. There are like 50 people on the single server. Sort of a blast from the past. Not sure I'll stick with it after the free trial thing ends (or even until then). Just not the same.

ha ha, well, prepare for a whole new dialect of "geek speak" then if you make the jump. ;)

The starting zones by race are separated, and it is a pain in the ass to get a low-level toon of one race to some of the other low-level zones for other races. Gnome/Dwarf <-> Human is not bad, but Drae/Elf <-> the other three is brutal, you have to run through a zone where everything is about 12-16 levels higher than you are and so you'll aggro things even at long distances.

When you die, your spirit goes to a nearby cemetary; you can either rez yourself there (at cost) or do the corpse run back... and then have to continue on the journey. I lucked out; I died twice in the wetlands, and both times, the cemetary was way AHEAD of where I had been, so I could skip most of the zone by just dying twice.

Sigh. 1.2 gigs? Comcast won't be back until tomorrow. :(

Jen, it wouldn't matter if it was taking 6 hours, the servers go down on Tuesday for weekly maintenance, every week. Gives us all a good excuse to go outside.

The patch will be done before the servers come back up, don't you worry. :)I was happier and content playing the free trial. Ever since I paid money it's been extremely frustrating and I want to gouge my eyes out. I am still unable to play more than 24 hours later after purchasing this shit. My only hope at this point is that Cafe (who is trying to install her purchased copy now) doesn't go through the same torture than I've endured.

I hate WoW. WoW can go to hell.

They're slowly bringing the servers up now, but it will be hit or miss tonight. They don't normally do huge patches like this, so it isn't that common. Usually on Tuesdays they say they'll be down until 2PM EST and they are up at 11.

Believe me, I am chomping at the bit to get in there too.

ha ha, well, prepare for a whole new dialect of "geek speak" then if you make the jump. ;)
Heh :) - I don't think I'll do that - I'm probably done with MMO's for the indefinite future. Other than the one night on a trial of EQ-Mac I tried the other day, I've not played any type of MMO for going on 2 years now.

That sounds like the original EQ setup, with different home towns for the different races, except that in EQ, if you died, you went back to your bind spot... no matter where it was. It was completely possible (and pretty common for new low level players) to spend a whole night going from one end of the world to another, only to get stomped by a giant hiding behind a hill and wind up back where you started... with no way to get your corpse and stuff back but to do it all over -- and if you waited too long (hmm... what was it... a day, two?), your corpse would simply be deleted from the game. Ah, the good old days :) (okay, perhaps they're better in retrospect :D)

Yeah, new hairstyles for each race. They recycled them though, and crossed races. Draenei females got Blood Elf females, NE females got Dwarf females, etc. The cost is level specific, and depends on how many changes you do. You can change the style, color and any facial markings/features (horns, tusks, tattoos, and so on)

On my level 19 I just changed the style and it cost 6 silver which wasn't too bad.

The hardest part is not being able to jump onto a soloing character when you don't see anyone on!

You can probably tell if the router is holding you back - if you have a green light and it says "no problems detected", the peer sharing is working and you'll just have to be patient :(

It not, then it will speed things up.

I'll catch up with y'all when I can.

Comcast came and did the install yesterday.
Of course, my Internet is still not working.
Although my modem is working.
And my router is working.
And my computer says I have an internet connection.
And I did numerous disconnects, reconnects, repairs, etc.

I think it finally linked in last night but I lost the link again when I reset my modem.

Because damn Comcast was auto-forcing me to go through their installation package (my browsers were being commandeered) despite the fact I was just transferring an account, I already have an account name, and my computer already had their software on it. It doesn't check for any of that. It just takes over your browser and only lets you go to their one page, until you get "installed." I'm so pissed off with them. Because their install program didn't work, it would give me an error message that I couldn't understand (there was no real explanation, it was all in tech-ese) so I'll actually have to call tech support.

To top it off, although all I did was just move my computer from one apartment to another, pretty much wholesale, my wireless mouse no longer works (and yes, I replaced the batteries, and Reset the mouse and pulled out and reslotted the USB wireless mouse controller... numerous times). So I had no MOUSE, I was doing everything through keyboard last night. Arggggg.

I'd also like to bitch about how UGI told me they'd turn the gas on this past Monday and I didn't find out they lied until last night when I went to cook noodles on the gas stove and nothing worked, but I suppose I should do that elsewhere.

We can kill her if she flags PVP though.

Found a neat little way to make some extra cash with the Hallow's End event going on.

Make sure to trick or treat at your innkeeper once an hour or any chance you get. Hang on to any of the wands that change a party member into the various costumes. Head to a major city, Stormwind, Darnassus, Ironforge, etc, and keep an eye on the trade channel.

Higher level toons are paying pretty good gold to be turned into different things. I guess there is an Achievement you can earn by getting turned into all of them. I made 15 gold last night off one guy.

Yeah, they implemented the achievements system with this last patch. A lot of my old guildies are running around like crazy people trying to get all these things, but I could care less. If one pops up, neat. I'm not going to go Pokemon crazy and try to get all of them.

Here's a list to them all:

Achievements - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?achievements)

I think I am parked over in Ashenvale now, trying to get my Draenei to exalted with Darnassus before 30 so I don't have to ride around on a stupid elephant.

Kinda cool event they just started, leading up to the Expansion in three weeks:

Found in the rotting diary of Eric Farrington in the dead city of Andorhal…

Wednesday

My beloved home, Andorhal, has fallen victim to an evil plague. I have witnessed the horrors of the Scourge firsthand, and seen unimaginable things. Death was not granted to my loved ones. Instead, everyone I’ve ever known has turned into monsters. Monsters of unfathomable, relentless viciousness!

I thought naught of a few illnesses, a few fevers. We continued to ship out crates of grain to Lordaeron, and we weren’t fearful of this new sickness -- we were confident our healers could handle it. I know now that was foolish, blind.

The denizens of Andorhal turned into vile zombies of the Scourge. These monstrosities no longer held any thoughts or abilities from their mortal lives. Most certain of all, they readily used new powers we had never seen before to further spread the disease and hasten the destruction of the city.

I have been hiding for two days in the sewers, but I must venture out soon to find supplies or possibly a way out of the city to the forests.

Friday

Help me, I’ve been bitten!

I cannot believe I was foolish enough to think I could sneak past all of them on the streets. The zombies are everywhere now, and Andorhal is only a shell of its former glory, a sad and twisted remnant of my beautiful home.

I can already feel the disease taking me. May the light bless me as I go to be with my family and friends once again. I’m not sure how much longer I can keep my sanity. I am weak. I hunger, and must eat…

Eat…

Brains...

The Scourge Invasion is upon us! Prepare yourself for the deadly onslaught of the Scourge, unleashed upon Azeroth and all its denizens.

FAQ

Q: How do I become a zombie?
A: Disease-infected crates are scattered throughout the cities of Azeroth, spreading a sickness that transforms its sufferers into zombies. And of course, when zombies attack, their victims can be afflicted by the disease as well.

Q: How do you stop being a zombie?
A: The disease can be cured by other players who can cast ‘Cure Disease’ or by special healer NPCs in the cities. Once the disease has run its course and a character has become a zombie, the only cure is death.

Q: Can I become a zombie again?
A: Yes.

Q: As a zombie, what are some things I can/cannot do?
A: You can no longer cast the spells/abilities that you had as a normal character, and formerly friendly NPCs now consider you an enemy. You can, however, cast new, unique zombie spells.

Q: Anything else I should know while being a zombie?
A: As a zombie, you are part of a special faction that is friendly with all zombies and can converse with them, regardless of whether they were part of the Horde or Alliance in their mortal existences.

The zombie thing is both fun, and annoying... fun to mess with others, not so fun to be messed with (especially if you want to play low level chars <_<, or are in the middle of feralas trying to get your pet. Grrrr....)

On that note, 37 pets and going strong! Little stinker will be mine.

If you die with the disease, you turn into a zombie and can infect others (go hostile to all factions). If the disease timer runs out, you turn into a zombie... and can infect others. When you kill an NPC as a zombie, they die and spawn another zombie, so you end up having a rather decent horde of troops following you. A few lvl 70 zombies can zombify just about any town, especially if it isn't close to an argent dawn healer.

I took out camp mojo in Feralas when I turned. Revenge for taking out Feathermoon and infecting me, heh.

So how do you get un-zombified once you actually turn? Is there a way in-game to do this, or will they just unzombify everyone when the event is over?

I believe it will be over on November 13th when Wrath of the Lich King goes live. From what I hear, it's only going to get worse, ultimately leading to the razing of all the major cities.

After that though, life should return to normal.

Yes, when they do a major upgrade, if there are changes to the skill trees, they give you a "free respec." All your skills get dumped and you have to reselect them all.

This is good if the changes would have led you to want to respec to take advantage of them.
It's annoying if you wouldn't have changed anything anyway.

It gets more annoying, the higher the level of your character.

I am in somewhat the same position. And the answer is... yes.

I don't even know how to say it... a very different game than when BC came out, and... it's not even remotely close to the original.

I just about fainted when I saw druids had a full rez now! And then some hunter ran by with a giant core hound. Strange.

I had heard about Hunters now being able to tame exotic pets (or is that in WotLK?) heh... wonder if the Cerberus from the Draenei starting zone is tamable now. o_O

From the sounds of things, it's going to end up like D2 when all classes had some way of having skills/spells of the other classes.

Ah well, I always wanted to play a DK since vanilla WoW and I guess it'll hold me over until D3 comes out.

I think I like the flexibility of the druid thing. Love travel form!

I honestly don't have a great handle on the whole talent tree thing, but I've been concentrating most of my points in balance and restore. I have to keep things pretty simple for myself because I have crappy motor skills and get easily flustered, which does not make me a good gamer in the traditional sense.

I'm open to suggestions in case they reset the points again.

I never really played much in those trees, I've only done Feral (up to about the max). It was very effective as a DPS and tank build.

You can go to WowWiki.com and look for descriptions of "builds" (particular arrangements of talents) that contribute to the sort of focus you want your character to have.

Travel forms help a lot. I don't think I even had a mount for my druid for a long time, since i had the form. Being a manatee or whatever is funny too. :) That was great for underwater quests -- I could swim in travel form to the bottom, change to some other form and fight/do whatever, then change back to avoid drowning.

I've been reading and I guess we should be selling herbs and skins at auction. It's more lucrative than selling the finished products. Ideally, I'd get rid of alchemy and get another gathering skill, but I like having elixirs and potions for my own use and to share.

I'm also buying too much crap. :( I have to stop shopping so much.

I hated that quest. And yes, if you're not prepared, you can be weeding out the underlings outside, then get too close to the tower and suddenly find yourself in big trouble!

I've been reading and I guess we should be selling herbs and skins at auction. It's more lucrative than selling the finished products.

ding ding ding!

First Big Lesson, yes. The materials usually sell for far more than the products -- because people want to raise their crafting skills quickly WITHOUT having to collect the mats. Or they decided to build up two different crafts without having a collection skill. When high levels do this, they'll drop gold like it's nothing to them (because it's not), that to newbs is a lot of money.

Basically, only craft items in order to raise your skill level. Then just do items on commission or for personal use, otherwise sell the materials.

Again, as soon as you get your skill to the "next level," don't bother crafting [gray] items to sell. Very few items will command price-wise what the mats will bring you.

You'd do better mining copper ore and selling it as-is on the open market, I've seen it sell for 2g for a stack of 20 sometimes. I also got good at knowing when something was undervalued, so I'd buy it and resell it at normal price.

almost time to go to get the kids... need to be home by 7 though, hubby and I have a raid planned, although with the error it may get pushed back, the kids have homework too though so I like them to have unwind time before they go to bed.

Prince Arthas' first wave of attack last night was quite a thing to behold.

Anyone know any good name generators? For some reason I could never bring myself to use non-fantasy themed names in WoW even though I don't play on an RP server and I'm having a heck of a time trying to pick a name for my future DK. :|

This is the typical Blizzard, to smite me on my last game night pre-xpack with massive server downtime.

I had promised myself that I wouldn't pick up Wrath until this rogue hit 70, and now I am going to have to go back on my word.

I just wish I could have seen the big ice dragons attacking Stormwind. /cry

Sexy!

I'm still waiting for my CE to ship out (had to get from states. Being a P = I'm an idiot...). So I won't have it for a while. But I had to get the CE to go with my other two. The pets, you know... I *need* the pet.

I'm now most of the way through loremaster, but it's getting... tiring. I don't think I can handle finishing it anymore. Probably have to let it go and come back one day. *sniff*

Hi there... Noob to these forums, but not to WoW (World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Post Search (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/search.html?characterId=37730478346&sid=1))

How's everyone liking Lich King?

I'd post pics of my Gnome DK but I forgot my DVD at home... :'(

It's funny... No matter what forums I visit, (foodieforums, knifeforums, here, there, everywhere) there's no escaping WoW

It's also amusing when you are taking the elevator down and they are talking about raiding black temple. It's particularily funny when there are others who don't play, and they kind of roll their eyes trying to understand the language. I can't imagine what they think when the most unlikely people ask what instance they were on.

The best was when a couple of IT guys were talking black temple with full lingo (aggro, tank, dps, lagging out on fire). And a woman kind of looked at me going "IT guys" with her eyes... but I wanted to know what server they were on, so got into their conversation.

Bet that felt like a "what the hell is this world coming down to?" moment :D

I am a 71 but just

the big guild horde side is The League on Sentinels server and they were the first to have a member hit 80

they have a lot of 75+ *sigh*

I just don't have that kind of time.... oh well I am having fun and enjoying the adventure.

Went into Nexus and Utgarde and that was fun to put all our knowledge to practice...

Last night the queue was 900 something. I went and watched tv for an hour before I got on.

I hate expansion times, especially when I don't have mine yet. Grrrrr.

(On the plus side... I got my spore bat! WHOO!)

She's gorgeous.

We've been trying to do the blue tubers quest and have finally given up. I am beyond frustrated and the blue tubers can suck it. There was even one funny point in our attempt when Cafe went charging in. I can't remember if one or both of us died, but I did refer to her as Leroy when we reconvened. In case you haven't seen LJ here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCNJRfSZBU) he is. Too bad we didn't have any divine intervention and about 10 more people. :alttongue:

Blue tubers?

What's that?

Jen

It's asshatery that's what it is. :D In the Barrens there's a dungeon called Razorfen Kraul and you're supposed to let a gopher out and hes supposed lead you to blue tubes or so it says. Meanwhile there's a ton of creatures to battle through and I've read that you're supposed to clear the area well so they don't kill this gopher otherwise it's a do over.
