Name people that you think might have been the real inspiration ( or could have been ) for Indiana Jones. As far as I know, no one has ever been named by his creator, but that doesn't matter. This thread is about explorers who took chances and had adventures etc.
Pick one ( or more if you post more than once or whatever ) and tell us about one of his ( or her ) adventures. Pick some moments then from the adventure and then give us a video or at least some audio that could serve as theme music for this segment.
I am going to post text on my choices for explorers first, and then insert the video/audio accompaniment later.
The Life of Sir Richard Burton, by Thomas Wright (http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/b/burton/richard/b97zw/)
The Virtual Exploration Society - Roy Chapman Andrews (http://www.unmuseum.org/andrews.htm)
First, a Lovecraft story to enhance the mood.
The prototype ( shorter )
The Nameless City by H. P. Lovecraft (http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/thenamelesscity.htm)
Second version ( longer )
The Mound by H. P. Lovecraft and Zealia Bishop (http://terror.snm-hgkz.ch/lovecraft/html/mound.htm)
Soon to come - the music.
