My husband's counselor suggested that he read "Getting the Love You Want" by Harville Hendrix.

I realize that every book of this type presents itself as the cure for all your relationship problems. Consequently, I try to take them with a grain of salt. But this book has been around for 20 years now and was recommended by a therapist so maybe there is something to it. When I was buying a second copy to read while I was traveling, the clerk at the bookstore said "This book saved my marriage." He and his wife had read it 10 years ago and he couldn't say enough good things about it.

Has anyone else read this? If so, did you find it helpful?

No, but I might read it now. Sounds interesting.

Is this book only for married couples and/or people in a relationship?
Or does it give good advice for people who are looking to get into a relationship.

It is directed at people who are in a relationship, but after reading it I can see value to people who aren't married or in a committed relationship.

I believe that he also has a book specifically for single people, but I am not 100% sure about that.

There are many, many relationship self-help books out there. I imagine that most have nuggets of gold in them. This one has been around for 20 years, so is has longevity going for it. In fact when I bought it the clerk at the bookstore told me that reading it saved his marriage. I was hoping to find others that have read it who could share their experiences.

LOL

I replied, hit submit and then re-read my original post. Sorry about repeating myself.
