You've met three?

I've met one.

One of my ex-girlfriends may have been one, but I'm not sure.

She may have been an ENFP instead. Hard to tell with her.

But the only other two I've ever really interacted with were from this site.

why do you want to know?

Its just really hard for me to find female ENTPs.

The interactions I've had with them have been amazing and I'd really like to experience that first hand.

This is a good question. I've only met one lady IRL who I am going on a *hunch* might be ENTP. I've known at least 2 male ENTPs, possibly more.

The essential ENTP impulse is the one an 8-year-old boy has when he gets his first Legos: "COOL!!! ...now what can I make with these?"

The trick is to not lose that reaction.

hmm. well, damn. i feel for you, but i don't know how to answer you. we don't have a certain kind of hangout. we could be anywhere with anyone.

maybe try keeping an eye out for the chick that may look like all of the other ones on the outside, but instead of acting like them, she's laughing at them, cracking jokes at their expense while talking to them (but they're laughing too), watching a lot (analyzing), only contributing to the gossipy type conversations in an obviously polite (but looking bored) way, things like that.

that's how i'd look for me anyway. i've never met a female one either.

IMO, the higher than normal concentration of female ENTPs could be found in academic/research environment.

This thread just tangentially reminded me of something I realized last week. I was walking with another female friend (IxFP), and she asked me if I wanted to check out the campus art gallery. I wanted to go, but had just gotten a refill on my soda. So I said, "Okay, I'll just have ta' chug 'it." And she was like, " 'Chug 'it'? Gross!" And then I almost died laughing because I suddenly realized how..."unfeminine" it sounded. And how I'm very prone to saying "unfeminine" things like that, but have never consciously realized it. What must people think of me after all?! lol.

Anyhow, I'd agree with digesthisickness...there is no signature spot for ENTP females that I've discovered. They can be found in a lot of environments - which means you have to pay attention to how they're acting to pick them out. And even that could be difficult, haha. I personally act slightly different based on my enviroment - though there probably is a pattern of bearing which I can't figure out because I'm the only ENTP female I know, and I'm not very good at self-observance. I do generally try to make those I'm with laugh, though, whoever they are. So...look for laughter? Nah, that's stupid....

I used to think that Sarah Silverman was an ENTP, but it just didn't seem quite right to me. After reading her background I've come to the conclusion that she is an ENTJ.

I'm not sure of Ellen Paige's type, but I'm certain the screenwriter of Juno is an ENTP.

An ENTJ would never seek a career in comedy. I think people put a lot of comedians as Ns if they make sense, I beg to differ.

TLL, you just appointed me with hours of Sarah Silverman research.

And I think Ellen Page is an ISTP.

Well I can see why a person would think Sarah Silverman is an ENTP, because I used to as well. Her approach to comedy is unconventional and she lacks any reservations about breaching taboos or offending people. While this can describe an ENTP, it can also describe an ENTJ. I think what made me realize she's an ENTJ is this quote on wikipedia from an SNL writer that worked with her:

"I could see how it wouldn't work at SNL because she's got her own voice, she's very much Sarah Silverman all the time. She can play a character but she doesn't disappear into the character -- she makes the character her."

An ENxP portraying a character would definitely "disappear into the character". They would read the script and make themselves become what the script called for. In fact I don't think she's an ESTP either for this same reason. However ENTJ's in general are known for making the world conform to their vision rather than vice versa. An actor that makes every character become like her would describe an ENTJ very well.

Also her comedy style is simply not like the plethora of ENTP comedians out there. Most ENTP do observational humour and while they have their own views on things they try to communicate them in a way that fits their audience's perspective. Sarah's humour seems to have more shock value, and I think a lot of people don't get it, because she is communicating from her perspective. She is basically saying, "This is funny, because I see it as funny. Therefore you should too." An ENTP would say, "This situation is funny. Now how do I communicate it in a way that people get the joke?"

I am a female ENTP. I just joined this site, actually. We are incredibly rare as I am reminded every single day. No one thinks like I do, especially not women. I am pretty sarcastic, witty, too smart for my own good and I will charm the pants off of you and then sell them back to you without blinking an eye. Oh, and I am modest, too. The most modest person you will ever meet. ;)

It's funny, because I am always on the hunt for an INFJ male. Things just click even though we are SO different. I feel like you guys should be terrified of us, though. We are a handful.

My experience (as friends of ENTP and as one myself):

Finding ENTP Females: Witty as hell, laugh easily and often. Silly when drunk, but will continue to use a good vocabulary nevertheless. Either intimidating men, gaining their mutual respect (one of the boys), or scaring the shit out of the general public. They talk to strangers easily. They love counter-culture. Not usually very girly (when it comes to how they dress and their lack of F), although someone posted that they were- which surprises me greatly.

My predictions: Most easily found at obscure shows, book stores, at cafes.
DO NOT ATTACH. Playing hard to get is a win strategy with an ENTP, because clingyness will freak them out- guaranteed.
I am surprised i have an ENTP friend, and let me tell you, the mix of us other is cruel and toxic. We play a lot of jokes on the public, love to conceptualize together, come up with big plans that never happen, and laugh a lot- usually at the public's expense .. . it gets lethal.

good luck hunting.

ENTP women are rare, like 0.5% of the population, so you'll have a hell of a job finding them.

Try unusual hobbies, bookshops (love them myself), marketing careers

Typically the ones I've met are loud, a bit flakey, very cheeky and a wee bit of a handful - if somewhat fun.

Happy hunting.

Yea, I suppose so. I just meant that obstacles are simply that, obstacles.

NT women are rare in general. I have met them in this frequency: INTJ females, ENTJ females, and one ENTP female. I have never met another ENTP male. The one ENTP female I met was a Director at our company. Extremely seductive and interesting, though about 10 years older.
