View Full Version : That's it.
Having watched both conventions and listened to the speeches for both parties, I've come to a conclusion.
I want 8 more years of Bill Clinton.

I admire people who appreciate good whine.

*sigh* Okay, so, mostly I'm just frustrated by the fact that I don't want either of our candidates.
But, to be fair, Bill Clinton was too busy fucking his interns to fuck the country.

I wouldn't call myself a Clinton kind of guy. To each his own. I don't think presidents have a thousandth the influence on the economy people give them credit for. Cycles are gonna cycle despite them.

Yep, the chairman of the Federal Reserve has more power than the president, over the economy. Clinton's administration benefited from Greenspan's loosening of the money supply. Now we're paying the price for Greenspan's idiocy, while the federal government bails out the banks (claiming they're actually helping consumers...hah!).
Fuck Greenspan and fuck Bernanke. They think they can control the business cycle by targeting interest rates. The problem is, Volker already proved that strategy to be a failure back in the 70s. The only real tool the fed has to control the economy is its power to print money. It was Volker's tight money policy that brought us out of stagflation, not setting interest rates which is akin to setting price controls.

President Clinton is one of the most overrated of all time. Ever since the bombing of the factory in Sudan (and, the same month, lying to the grand jury), I've pretty much despised him.

I couldn't stand Clinton. He only stood for two things.
1) Himself
2) Hooraaaay Abortion!
He did make some great speeches, though. Full of hope and good will and promises of greatness. If I just let myself out of reality for several minutes and slipped into the dreamworld of his speeches, I could kinda get with him. That's the closest I ever got to taking drugs.

I agree... I have only known two presidents in my life time... and Clinton kicks this ones ass.
Too young to remember Bush Sr. and Reagan

If Clinton had stuck to mere philandering it would have been tolerable. When he tried to screw over Paula Jones at trial and the feminists took up his cause, our political process became theatre of the absurd.
Pat Ireland of all people was willing to consider a hummer or two to be the cost of doing business. Made me wonder where her ethics went.
