Ummm....
I don't know.
I don't like RPGs because I have to play them alone.
I like games that involve my friends.
my favorite game ever is probably WoW but I don't think that counts.
I really like the Bloody Roar series.

You like Chrono Cross???? w00t!! I don't know anyone else who likes that game like I do! Well, here are my favorites, in no particular order, keeping in mind that I haven't played as many as most:
Chrono Cross
FFX
Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil
Okami
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Katamari Damacy/We Love Katamari
Ico
the Dance Dance Revolution series
Kingdom Hearts (1, not 2)
FFIX
I really like the Bloody Roar series.
Bloody Roar II was one of the only fighting games that I ever enjoyed. And I only ever played a demo of it at an electronics store!

alright! -high fives- ;)
Cool games :) I've played all those except okami and katamari hmm.
oooh and shooting games are wiinningg by votes so far :o the only shooting game I really enjoyed and played for awhile was counter-strike online with friends in the past.
Of those played within the last year:
1. Halo series (Combat Evolved's single-player, the latest title's multiplayer)
2. Oblivion
3. Half-Life 2
4. Chromehounds
5. Galactic Civilizations
Even though it's a one-off, I highly recommend The Experiment (European release Experience 112) to adventure players.

i won't give a full list, because it'll be repetitive. i basically only play rpg's, action rpg's and fighting games. i play madden too but that's an exception to the rule. don't know why this is, i tried other games and i didn't catch on.
no. 1 for me has to be chrono trigger. if you haven't played it, it's coming out on the DS and i urge you all to play it. my all time fave, hands down. i personally can't stand chrono cross though and as far as i'm concerned, the series ended at CT. 1/3 of the dream team, completely different mood in game and a very different battle system to me does not equal a sequel. i don't care if they try and continue the story, if i made a game myself starting from where ff7 left off, it would not be ff7:2.
final fantasies must be next in line in terms of my faves. i liked pretty much all of them, though i do have a hard time picking a favorite. there just isn't a perfect game there imo. really really good games, but they all have flaws. ff5 was amazing imo, if only they had limit breaks back then (really adds to the excitement factor). 10 was good but it didn't have a world map, making the world way too small.
ff7 was good but i think the twist was slightly unrealistic (in its context) even if you calculate all the factors they give you. i played ff7 quite recently too and the graphics sadly enough made the game less enjoyable for me. i don't like putting too much weight on graphics, but i would've preferred either old school 2d or the 3d we have now.
ff9 i enjoyed because of the brilliant characters they had. vivi is still my favorite in the entire ff series thus far. he's an INFP :D. love them dreamers. however, i don't think i got a real 'end of the world' feeling from it. it was an adventure, but it didn't give me that extra feel to it. i think the other ones did.
in order, i would say:
ff5
ff7
ff10
ff9
ff8 (just because it was my first)
all the others
don't argue with me on this one, it's just my opinion.

I honestly think about Chrono Cross as a totally different game in a totally different world. I thought of the scenes that featured characters/locations from the other game (or the times when the CT theme song was alluded to in the soundtrack, which, by the way, I consider to be the best video game soundtrack of all time) as just cool little allusions to a totally unrelated game. Like, for instance, in every FF game, when you're in a totally different world, with totally different characters, and suddenly there's a moogle! And there's a chocobo! It's like that. FF, only with Chrono at the beginning (and not quite as epic or character-driven).
But that's just me.

yea I agree with you with ff10 having no access to world map traveling. you only clicked where you wanted to go and the paths were so straight-forward D: which made it pretty boring.
I really liked ff7, I actually thoughts the graphics were awesome when it first came out Lol. you prob didn't like it because you played it recently :p so you got used to the nice graphics of the recent new games.
ff9 was my favorite ^^ love garnet and vivi. I really like the story about the summons, etc. ff8 I liked for the love story(mostly played it for rinoa lol).
Since you guys were talking about chrono cross.. I wanna mention :O The introduction to the game is the bessst (love the song). I found a orchestra(eminence) playing the theme on youtube here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBiXPP_Tm3Y) >.> but I think the electric guitar guy kinda ruined it(it overplayed the flute!) oh.. and here's another cool song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2VSfb-v-0k&feature=related)that they played. ._. yeah I know that was random.. but they're so good!
ah and I noticed a few people have zelda: ocarina of time. awesomeee gaaaame

yeah lol, when it comes to ff7 i agree that my views are tilted because of the time i played it. didn't get to play video games as a kid though. had to wait till high school.
i can see ff9 as an INFP game :D. there is a lot of magic and stuff along with a theme of innocence that an INFP can enjoy. garnet really wasn't my favorite character though. she's a princess summoner with white magic. she's cherished by all but wants her own adventure. how formulated can you get? once again, this is just my personal opinion, i'm not gonna challenge anyone based on personal preferences ;).
i agree that chrono cross is a completely different game to chrono trigger. what pisses me off is that they tried to continue the story. if the same members of the dream team were there would never have agreed to put such a dark spin on things. it's not that i don't like dark themes, but that brand of 'cruel fate' just did not match the dragon quest atmosphere of chrono trigger. i wouldn't like it even if it was a separate series altogether, but i think i would respect it more. i really don't like it the way it is. on top of the 'corruption' of its predecessor, it also has a really small map (bigger worlds bring mystery), it has way too many characters (makes character development difficult) and the game at the latter stages is way too easy.

it has way too many characters (makes character development difficult)
hmm I like games with many characters. I don't know why but it makes the game more interesting and fun for me. They all can contribute to the storyline and they all have different personalities and their own little story.(it depends on the game I think.. some suck at developing all the characters). That's personally why I like chrono cross, suikoden, fire emblem, arc the lad, and xenogears. :) all the characters are unique (have their own way of fighting etc.). suikoden in particular is very good with all their character development and interaction between them. oh and you get to see different perspectives too which is neat. Sometimes games where you are stuck with 3-4 people for the whole game get boring especially if I don't find one character I like in the bunch.(like ffx-2.. only yuna, paine, and rikku. only 3! just about them the wholle tiiime. o.o gets kinda boring.. at least have like 6+ characters lol)
oh and I liked garnet just because :o she was cute! lol annnd a whitemage/summoner (I like whm) she was really strong when I used her. I uuused Steiner, the monkey kid(forgot his real name), Garnet, and Vivi.
If anyone here likes rpgs that are kind of wiiierd and umm dark. Xenogears has a mysterious, deep, and unique storyline/characters. :o Although you might be confused most of the time lol.. it was an awesome game (at least to me).

Somehow, I think that video games are more of an Arts and Entertainment topic rather than Sports and Games, unless you're Roger Ebert. And he should have been a food critic...and now, he should be in a nursing home.
Anyway:
Sonic the Hedgehog (2D side-scrolling series) (Sega Genesis)
Doom (PC)
Half-Life (PC)
Freelancer (PC)
The Legend of Zelda (NES)
Half-Life 2 (and its expansions) (PC)
Wing Commander series (PC)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PC)
Doom 3 (PC)
Bioshock (PC)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PC)
Crysis (PC)
Saints Row (Xbox 360)
Far Cry (PC)
F.E.A.R. (PC)
Prey (PC)
Descent: Freespace (PC)
Freespace 2 (PC)
Super Mario Bros. series (NES)
Rolling Thunder (NES)
That's just a slice of the games I like.
And these are not in a particular order.
I am also a sucker for space combat simulators, especially the ones with Hollywood voice acting, such as Freelancer and Wing Commander.
And I also got addicted to Roller Coaster Tycoon, but ultimately, I wanted my roller coaster designs to be as realistic as possible, so I sort of abandoned that game in favor of better programs.

1] FF III/VI-I has the entire series, but this one cuz it's my first x)
2] StarFox-Just awesome.
3]BioShock-How different was this right?
4] DOA Beach Volley Ball EXTREME!-It's like playing with barbies, but with super unrealistic body movements. Which are hilarious, and the pole dances. Common!
5]Prey-This game was so bad ass. Made me a bit nauseous at first.
6]The Typing of The Dead-Like "House of the Dead, except instead of shooting a gun you type words.
7] Mortal Kombat-Fatalities. Need I say more?
8] DOA 4-Again I like the whole series, but this one because it was so damn pretty, and the game play is really smooth.
9] Jim Power And The Lost Dimension-A SNES game. Sorta like Contra. Which also kicks your butt :D
10] Can you say...ROCKBAND!-Beyond awesome.
None but #1 are in any particular order. So many games to choose from. Those up there may not even be my absolute tops. Just the ones off the top of my head.
Don't even get me started. I could go for days about games and consoles. I collects them

5]Prey-This game was so bad ass. Made me a bit nauseous at first.
A lot of people think the game was too easy, that may be true, but the gameplay was nonetheless so exciting and creative.
I suppose that being able to start right where you left off rather than restarting at a checkpoint or quick save could make the game a little too easy, but I thought it made it less frustrating -- having to keep on repeating a difficult part makes the game more repetitive and boring.
The game also has an awesome soundtrack -- one of the best in video games.
Also, the scariest video game I've ever played was Condemned: Criminal Origins (I have it for the PC). Condemned 2: Bloodshot, which I bought for my newly-acquired PS3, is nowhere near as scary as the first, so far, but it has more engrossing and elaborate gameplay mechanics, along with some other improvements.
No particular order, and I'm unable to make a top 10:
Final Fantasy (II, IV, VI, VIII and X)
Guilty Gear

Yeah the game was easy, but it had some unique mechanics. I got the special edition that came with the soundtrack :D
<3<3<3<3<3<3
EDIT: I LIKE EMO
Take Me Home
I totally agree with you about Condemned. It was hella freaky. *gets chills thinking about it* It kept me on edge the whole time. I can't wait to try it for the PS3 I haven't got one yet. I need to hurry though.

Harvest Moon!!!! (Wait...the promotional plushies of farm animals were given away with THIS game ) x 2

I'm talking about the instrumental score, not the sorry-ass emo song.
And Condemned 2 for the PS3 looks and plays exactly like the one for the 360.
And if the Windows version comes out, it will probably be even better.

Here's my top 10 (in some sort of order):
1. Anything rainbow 6 on PC e.g. rogue spear and ghost recon - exciting, realistic, atmospheric and superb to play with friends online (no camping please)
2. Civilisation - Alpha Centauri - cool 70's sci-fi feel to it
3. Civilisation 3 - I've spent many an hour of my life playing this
4. Lazer Squad - Great 2 player game for the Amiga
5. Grand Theft Auto -
6. Elite for the BBC - very playable with plenty of scope
7. Smarty pants for the Wii
8. Sensible soccer for the Atari ST
9. Frank Bruno's boxing on the Commodore 64
10. Space invaders (arcade) - you can sit down to play
Oh my god, I thought I don't play computer games that much but I guess I've pretty much being doing it most of my life.

If these screenshots I'm looking at of Resistance 2 right this very moment are not pre-rendered cinematics, then the PS3 is starting to show off its capabilities.
EDIT: Now will someone move this thread to the Arts & Entertainment section? When we say Sports and Games, it should be assumed that there will be exercise involved. Video games are far more related to the former category. Someone please make it so.

Unreal Tournament 2004
Hahaha, I used to love UT2K4. I almost always played Onslaught, some Deathmatch variant or Invasion. I got really good, but l eventually discovered friendly fire and I learned all of these different ways to teamkill people even when friendly fire was off (force vehicles into players, shoot sticky grenades then switch teams, and etc., I still don't have the redeemer one down though.)
There was this one Invasion server called Happy Penguin that I used to go to all the time; it was the best server on the planet, the most fun by far, because there were cool regulars and cool admins, and I even had fun with all of the "asshats" that joined (even though I became one later and was eventually banned for teamkilling :D)
I remember Counter Strike, too, and damn, that game takes forever until you get good at it. I feel proud to have run in to a myg0t person. :D
In no particular order:
Megaman X4
Holy crap, I'm having a nerd freakout right now. I love Megaman games like I love no other series. X4 brings back so many good memories from my childhood. Definitely better than the other two on the Playstation. Honestly, I can't choose between this one or the first X game for best of the X series.
-Megaman X/X4
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time
-Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
-Dynasty Warriors 4
-Banjo freaking Kazooie (what's up with this third one?)
-Sonic Adventure 2
-Metal Gear Solid 3 (I just liked it more than I like 4, 4 being the grand masterpiece of the century it is)
-Starfox 64 (way to go AwesomeCakes, and what happened to this series dammit!)
-GuiltyGear XX (way to go to Kora, although you might be talking about the first one?)

I have to say that Far Cry 2 looks amazing and innovative both as a concept and as a game (not as amazing as Crysis, but still...), but did it have to be part of the Far Cry cannon?
I mean, why couldn't they continue the adventures of Jack Carver?
I like adventure/platforming games the most, like Mario, Zelda, Kid Icarus, or the like. I like some shooters too though, like the Halo games and Goldeneye on N64.

I used to like shooters and RPGs, but I think I've grown out of those. I'm very competitive and they take too much time if you approach them from that perspective. I voted strategy because I still can't get enough of games like Warcraft III. I'm anxious to see Starcraft II.
Downloading sudoku onto my cell phone was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I can't play first person shooters, no matter how much I'd love to play Halo. I get motion sickness from playing them.
And, yeah, I can spend way too much time playing RPG's, which is why I play with a timer. (I know, it's sad, but I can lose track of time and spend 6 hours playing without moving. If I set a timer for an hour, then I don't lose track and reclaim the rest of my life back.)

If it weren't for the consistent hitching in certain levels, some of which reduce the frame rate to a slide show (it needs a patch), then Crysis Warhead would be one of the best shooters ever made.
I swear, this game looks ten times better than the first Crysis. There's more color, more detail, and more awesome physics. The game itself is also much more fast-paced and consistent. In the first Crysis, the game started off in a strategic sandbox mode, then involved into something way too linear and unexciting in the second and third half.
Crysis Warhead, while being a little more linear, is more consistent in this way -- there are still multiple ways to approach objectives, but they are not as diverse. Instead, you have this sort of thing happening throughout the game, rather than the entire game changing its idea.
The first Crysis suffered from somewhat boring storytelling, Crysis Warhead is highly whimsical by comparison, and the action is intense -- almost like a Michael Bay movie.
Now if Crytek would just make the patch to solve the hitching problems and possible memory leaks (it's not a video card issue, my GPU is more than capable of handling this game), then Crysis Warhead may possibly be the best game to be released this year, so far.
Tomorrow, perhaps, I will try playing Crysis Wars.
