I was discussing it with someone and I began to wonder how many cups per day people drink, and also, if they drink many cups if it's just out of habit or to feel more alert.
Haha, you're all about this tea subject aren't you 'Hmm'?

I R NUTZ
One cup of coffee most mornings. I also drink iced tea if some is made and I'm in the mood. My real vice is soda. I don't think I drink it to stay alert because caffeine doesn't seem to have that effect on me.

I used to drink tea lots once upon a time, never coffee, but I have been slowly cutting down until completely cutting it out the last few months.
So very seldom.

I said "tea, 1-2", although at this time of year it's really closer to zero. I do like drinking decaf green tea in the winter to warm up - works like a charm :).

Right now 0-1. I'm cheap so it's a money saving device. I did buy a carton of that instant coffee in Vienna flavor.
Now soy milk? I kill a carton of that stuff every 2 days. The Breakfast of Champion-es! :D

The thing that some coffee drinkers don't realize is that a "cup" of coffee is actually only 6 ounces. So that one huge ass cup of coffee that you drink in the morning is actually three cups, or so says the the little coffee meter when I'm pouring it.
You probably drink almost 10 cups a day, actually.

Less than one per day. I don't ever drink coffee, unless you count Dairy Queen "Moo-lattes" ;) I drink iced tea probably an average of once every 2 weeks or so.

There should be an option for none. I pretty much never drink them, mostly because my body seems to not process caffeine or something, as it does not keep me awake/wake me up in the least. To prove this, I once drank 3 Red Bulls (I don't drink those either normally), and was able to fall asleep 45 minutes later, normally.

Another none. Caffeine doesn't work for me either... If I want to stay up, I've got to bulk up on the fast sugars. Caffeine just makes me really thirsty.

I chose "I drink both 2-4", but it depends on where I am... when I'm in the States, it's practically coffee all day (sometimes none, most often one or two, when I'm stressed upto five)... but even though my parents drink tea, I typically can't be bothered brewing it properly...
But when I'm in India? God help me... I drink three to six cups of chai every day... not only cause it's really good, but there's always someone else ready to give you some...
I love it... you go to someone's house, and you're not leaving without chai and sweetmeats (mishti or mithaayi). And there are tea vendors every two feet on the roads... It gets to be quite a problem...

 My sister's new in-laws visited (they live in Tamil Nadu) for three months before and after the wedding, which was over a long weekend in the mountains. Every time I turned around her new MIL was handing me a cup of tea and it was SO FREAKING GOOD. I wish I had asked her to show me how she makes it. Other than that I'm pro-tea, in particular Southern sweetened iced tea, but I have to keep it down since I'm trying to shrink myself. Coffee's good too. I like it all.
I generally always drink one cup of coffee in the morning.
As far as the rest of the day, the doses vary depending on many factors:
- How many hours of physical activity during the week I am doing: if I am cycling intensely 20+ hours a week, I can drink up to 4 coffees a day, if I am not doing anything I may only drink the one in the morning, if I am going to the gym and running I will take another one after lunch usually.
- How near are finals: I try to make my caffeine-intake follow a parabola-like pattern with the peak around 2 days before the final: this allows me to be sufficiently revved up and concentrated up until the 2 days before; then while I cut the intake off the tension for the exam increases, and the two effects tend to cancel out - this makes my level of stress remain constant and allows me to avoid pre-exam anxiety - the caffeine withdrawal dumbs my nervous system down a little so that the nervousness is absorbed.
I'm very sensitive to caffeine. If I drink a coffee after 5 pm, I can't sleep at night.

Have you ever tried switching to tea around the exam itself? From what I've read it's supposed to have a simultaneous destressing effect (from theanine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theanine)) which counters the caffeine's stimulating effect.

I used to drink 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day (but only in the morning so it wouldn't mess with my already crappy sleep). I managed to wean myself off coffee earlier this year. Now I just drink a lot of tea. Yum.

I drink one cup of caffeinated when I first wake up, then probably two cups of decaf at some point during the day. I'm very sensitive to caffeine so I can't have any except my morning dose. I will drink an occasional cup of hot decaf tea in the evening.

I drink one or two glasses of orange juice a day.
A couple of pints of milk/soya milk with cereal a day.
That's just about all the liquid I consume bar the stuff in food.
I don't mind tea, but I don't really see the point in it, either.
I tried coffee a few years ago. bleh.

Diet Dew? Dude, what's the point in that?
I drink coffee and tea, sometimes it's more coffee, other times it's more tea. Some how though I, every once in a while, manage to get myself all jittery and I get a little childish... :D

I probably average between 1 and 2. On most days I don't have any coffee, tea, or caffeinated beverage. But there are some nights where I will drain a dozen cup of coffee at a local Denny's while working on something for the next morning.

I don't drink coffee every day, maybe four or five days a week. But when I do, it's four cups easy. I was going to answer two cups until I saw Notta's reminder.
I rarely drink hot tea, only when I'm sick and then I have some with honey. But iced tea is probably my favorite thing to drink when I'm hot and thirsty.

I don't get some of you coffee drinkers..Is it just your addiction that's causing you to consume so much of the drug, or is it because you are really that sluggish throughout the day and you need it to be productive?

I just quit drinking coffee recently because I am trying to lose weight.
My problem is that I would have a little coffee with my cream and sugar. :newwink:
So my coffee was about 120 calories. :cheese:
I switched to tea.
I enjoy drinking something warm in the morning - at least for about 10 months out of the year.
But I only drink one cup because generally speaking, coffee and tea are not that good for you.
They turn your teeth yellow,
and the caffeine depletes your calcium.

I usually drink tea, different kinds, hot and cold, sweet and unsweet, 3-4 times a day.
Mixed in about 3 cups of milk because I still swear it'll make me taller, two cups of juice, 4 bottles of water, and an occasional coffee... and that'd be about my daily intake.

Eat fatty cheese. It is a good source of calcium. Fatty fish is also a good option. It contains a good variety of minerals of all kind.
Cheese is good with red wine and grapes.
Fat keeps your blood sugar on a good level, so you do not need to eat much.
A good way to get thin.
Think fat. Think thin.

I'm not a regular caffeine-intaker, but because of such fact, I got 2 hours and a few minutes of sleep last night (writing a paper), did a full day of work, and handled a 3 hour night class with plenty of energy to keep me up for a few hours more doing homework.
I drank a Tim Horton's medium size iced cappuccino yesterday before my 4 pm class (knowing I'd have to write the paper into the night) and today at work around lunchtime drank what was probably truly one cup (NPG standard) of coffee to keep me going. I'm still buzzed from it.

I don't get caught up in the brewing methods either, though I personally prefere a french press! :p But that is partly do to limited space in my apartment, and it is convenient for traveling. :p When I move into a house with a decent kitchen, sure I'll buy a coffee pot. :D
