Here is the link for the BBC Sex ID (http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/sex/add_user.shtml) (i.e., "Gender) test.

Some of these items are more "novelty" ones than anything else, but you might all enjoy them.

Yeah, but when you've been through years of gender 'testing' like we have, both professional and personal, these things are too easy to cheat :D

Shhhhh!!! Don't TELL them...!!!! :rolli:

* * * *

Here are my scores. I took it once a year ago or so. Nothing really different at all from the first time. (I am an uber-androgender-wunderkin!)

Your personal brain score: 0
Average score for MEN who've taken this survey: 50
Average score for WOMEN who've taken this survey: -50

Part 1: Angles

This task tested your ability to identify the angle of a line by matching it with its twin. This is a spatial task, which looks at how you picture space.
Your score: 18 out of 20
Average score for men: 15.1 out of 20
Average score for women: 13.3 out of 20

Spot the difference

This task tested your ability to identify which objects changed position. You lost points, if you incorrectly identified objects.
Your score: 71%
Average score for men: 39%
Average score for women: 46%

Part 2: Hands

You said your left thumb was on top when you clasped your hands together.

Left thumb on top: This suggests the right half of your brain is dominant. Some studies theorise that as a right brain dominant person, you may excel in visual, spatial and intuitive processes.

Part 3: Emotions and Systems

This task looked at whether you prefer to empathise or systemise.

Empathising
Your empathy score is: 11 out of 20
Average score for men: 7.9 out of 20
Average score for women: 10.6 out of 20

Systemising
Your systemising score is: 13 out of 20
Average score for men: 12.5 out of 20
Average score for women: 8.0 out of 20

Eyes
This task tested your ability to judge people's emotions.
Your score: 8 out of 10
Average score for men: 6.6 out of 10
Average score for women: 6.6 out of 10

Part 4: Fingers

We asked you to measure your ring and index fingers. Your ratios came to:
Right Hand: 1.02
Left Hand: 0.98

Average ratio for men: 0.982
Average ratio for women: 0.991

Part 5: Faces

This task looked at how you rate the attractiveness of a series of faces. The images you looked at were digitally altered to create slight differences in masculinity.

Your choices suggest you prefer more masculine faces.

Highly masculinised male faces possess more extreme testosterone markers such as a long, broad and lower jaw, as well as more pronounced brow ridges and cheekbones.

Part 6: 3D shapes

This task tested your ability to mentally rotate 3D shapes.
Your score: 12 out of 12
Average score for men: 8.2 out of 12
Average score for women: 7.1 out of 12

Words

Your score: you associated 26 word(s) with grey and you named 15 word(s) that mean happy. We are assuming that all the words you entered are correct.
Average score for men: 11.4 words total
Average score for women: 12.4 words total

Ultimatum
This task asked you how you would divide money.
If you had to split you had to split $50 with someone, you said you would demand $30.

So far on the Sex ID test, men have demanded 51.6% ($25.80) of the pot and women have demanded 51.0% ($25.50), on average.

What does your response suggest?

Sex differences are small in this task. Demanding less than 60% of the pot (ie $30) is more typically female. Demanding more than 65% of the pot (ie $32.50) is more typically male.

I decided to take this because the 2d:4d measurements from another thread a week or so ago made me curious!! Also, a funny sidenote -- my right hand is more masculine (2d:4d ratio on rt hand is 0.94, whereas left hand is 0.98), and so is the right half of my face!!! The right half of my face is slightly more angular and less full, whereas the left side of my face is poofier and is more full!! (not terribly noticeable, but at certain angles it's pretty evident!! I guess the left side of my body had more estrogen than the right side while I was in the womb?? :D  )

Your choices suggest you prefer more masculine faces.
Highly masculinised male faces possess more extreme testosterone markers such as a long, broad and lower jaw, as well as more pronounced brow ridges and cheekbones.
Interestingly, women's preferences are said to vary across the menstrual phase. A more masculine face is preferred during the 9 days prior to ovulation, when conception is most likely.
A typical 'attractive' female face possesses features such as a shorter, narrower, lower jaw, fuller lips and larger eyes than an average face.

Average score for men: 11.4 words total
Average score for women: 12.4 words total
What does your result suggest?

If you produced 1 - 5 words: You are more of the strong, silent type with a male brain. You probably find it easier to express yourself in non-verbal ways, preferring action rather than words.
If you produced 6 - 10 words: Most people in this range have a female-type brain.
Women are said to use both sides of the brain when doing verbal tasks while men mainly use their left side. Studies have shown that girls develop vocabulary faster than boys. This difference in brain power is caused by levels of pre-natal testosterone. Find out more .

Angles

Your score: 15 out of 20
Average score for men: 15.1 out of 20
Average score for women: 13.3 out of 20

If you scored 13 - 17: You found this test neither hard nor easy. This suggests your brain has male and female traits when it comes to spatial ability.

Spot the difference

Your score: 21%
Average score for men: 39%
Average score for women: 46%

If you scored between 0 - 33%: You may have more of a male brain. Scientists say men tend to under perform in this task. The corpus callosum, the part of the brain that links the right and left hemispheres, is a fifth larger in women. This means women can process visual and other signals at the same time more easily than men. There is also a theory that oestrogen levels in women give them an added advantage in spatial memory.

You said your left thumb was on top when you clasped your hands together.

Left thumb on top: This suggests the right half of your brain is dominant. Some studies theorise that as a right brain dominant person, you may excel in visual, spatial and intuitive processes.

Emotions and Systems

Empathising

Average score for men: 7.9 out of 20
Average score for women: 10.6 out of 20

Systemising

Your systemising score is: 12 out of 20

Average score for women: 8.0 out of 20

Eyes

Your score: 6 out of 10
Average score for men: 6.6 out of 10
Average score for women: 6.6 out of 10

Right Hand: 1.02
Left Hand: 1.04

Average ratio for men: 0.982
Average ratio for women: 0.991

It's thought that your ratio is governed by the amount of testosterone you were exposed to in your mother's womb. The ratio of the length of your index finger to the length of your ring finger is set for life by as early as three months after conception. Even during puberty, when we experience intensive hormonal changes, the ratio stays the same.

Faces
Your choices suggest you prefer more feminine faces.

Your score: 12 out of 12
Average score for men: 8.2 out of 12
Average score for women: 7.1 out of 12

If you scored 10 - 12: Are you an engineer or do you have a science background? People with these skills tend to score in this range. Past studies have concluded that people in this range have a more male brain.

Words

Your score: you associated 12 word(s) with grey and you named 6 word(s) that mean happy. We are assuming that all the words you entered are correct.

The ultimatum was about rationality. Since they lose everything if they turn down the bet, then rationally they should pick any amount greater than 0.

The second answer I would of given was $25, as I would in a normal world situation in which there are outsides costs associated with the opportunity, as well as social benefits to being fair. In the lab, however, no.

Words
9 Words total (2 for gray and 7 for happy).
SPOILER WARNING!
I don't think the first part of this test measured anything having to do with verbal fluency. According to the instructions, you're supposed to list things that are always or usually gray. And they have to be single words (e.g., "elderly people's hair" isn't a word). The challenge isn't expressing these things, or your use of the word "gray", but rather it's coming up with things that are the color gray.

Jennifer, how the hell did you come up with (in 60 seconds) 26 things that are always or usually gray? I get as far as concrete and elephants, and that's about it.
END SPOILER

Ultimatum
$25 out of $50.
This has less to do with any particular strategy on my part, and more to do with my general distrust of most people's objective rationality. If I were on the other side, I would take $1 if it was offered. I would have nothing to gain by making them lose their $49, and a dollar to lose by doing so. But too many people I know don't think that way, so I'd play it safe and go 50/50 (since the majority of people would accept that as "fair").

So far on the Sex ID test, men have demanded 51.6% ($25.80) of the pot and women have demanded 51.0% ($25.50), on average.

Sex differences are small in this task. Demanding less than 60% of the pot (ie $30) is more typically female. Demanding more than 65% of the pot (ie $32.50) is more typically male.

I scored a -50, which means that I'm a girl! (and a highly average one) who knows how I pulled that off since I could only come up with 2 words for grey (rainclouds and slush) and managed to score a 2 on empathy (yes- I'm an evil heartless bitch)- but I did get every single object that was out of place in the one picture! Prefer more masculine. Probably because masculinity was a holy grail for me that I kinda worshipped for most of my life but didn't dare dream of achieving it, little realising I already had... and also possibly something to do with having a very female-dominated family, and you can just imagine how well a female to male transsexual fared in that environment... inability to conform/fit in = ruthless mocking/castigation. Hence slight anti-female prejudice that I have to fight against, seeing them all as bitchy, petty, vain, selfish, etc like most of the women in my family. I tend to trust men more easily, and relax with them and generally have more faith in them... it's a horrible prejudice I know, but very ingrained by horrible experience... gonna take time to get over.

So, like I said, to the male side of centre, but not as 'manly' as the average man - no shit, when I was raised as a girl!! lol

Actually it's funny cos I've been called a "man's man" quite often, cos I find it hard to relate to women much. I put it down to a combination of my upbringing, a strong T preference, and my general arrogance and dumbassness. :D

Oh, plus being a) not straight and b) vowed to celibacy, meaning I don't kinda 'need' them for the stuff most men really, at the end of the day, want to ensure they don't spoil their chances of... so see no reason to be especially nice/patient with them any more than I am with men ;)

Angles

This task tested your ability to identify the angle of a line by matching it with its twin. This is a spatial task, which looks at how you picture space.
Your score: 10 out of 20
Average score for men: 15.1 out of 20
Average score for women: 13.3 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

If you scored 0 - 12: You have more of a female brain. Scientists believe that people with a female brain find it more difficult to judge the slope of a line because they're not wired for spatial tasks. In past studies, 65 per cent of people who scored in this range were women.

If you scored 13 - 17: You found this test neither hard nor easy. This suggests your brain has male and female traits when it comes to spatial ability.

If you scored 18 - 20: You have more of a male brain. On average, men outperform women in this task and those with more mathematical knowledge tend to score quite high as well. In past studies, 60 per cent of the people in this range were men.

Interestingly, men's testosterone levels fluctuate through the seasons and studies have shown that men's scores are lower in the spring, when their testosterone levels are at their lowest.

Do our cave dwelling ancestors offer us any clues about why men and women score differently on this task? Find out more.

Spot the difference

This task tested your ability to identify which objects changed position. You lost points, if you incorrectly identified objects.
Your score: 36%
Average score for men: 39%
Average score for women: 46%

What does your score suggest?

If you scored between 0 - 33%: You may have more of a male brain. Scientists say men tend to under perform in this task. The corpus callosum, the part of the brain that links the right and left hemispheres, is a fifth larger in women. This means women can process visual and other signals at the same time more easily than men. There is also a theory that oestrogen levels in women give them an added advantage in spatial memory.

If you scored between 34 - 66%: You may have a balanced female-male brain.

If you scored between 67 - 100%: Those with a female-type brain generally score in this range. Your ability to remember where objects are may serve as an advantage to you when you're trying to find your way around places. You're more capable of recalling landmarks to get from one place to another.

You said your left thumb was on top when you clasped your hands together.

Right thumb on top: This suggests the left half of your brain is dominant. Many studies have tried to establish whether there is a relationship between handedness and brain dominance. Some scientists believe that if you are left brain dominant, you would be more verbal and analytical.

Left thumb on top: This suggests the right half of your brain is dominant. Some studies theorise that as a right brain dominant person, you may excel in visual, spatial and intuitive processes.

However, these theories are debatable and leave much to be said about the small percentage of people who are ambidextrous.

Part 3

Emotions and Systems

This task looked at whether you prefer to empathise or systemise.
Empathising

Your empathy score is: 6 out of 20
Average score for men: 7.9 out of 20
Average score for women: 10.6 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

Empathisers are better at accurately judging other people's emotions and responding appropriately. If you scored 15 and above, you are very empathic and would be an ideal person to comfort people in a time of crisis. Women in general are better at empathising.

Systemising

Your systemising score is: 6 out of 20
Average score for men: 12.5 out of 20
Average score for women: 8.0 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

Systemisers prefer to investigate how systems work. A system can be a road map, flat pack furniture, or a mathematical equation – anything that follows a set of rules. A score of 15 and above suggests you're good at analysing or building systems. Men in general are better at systemising.

Scientists are keen to learn more about people who score high or low on both tests. They want to find out whether or not empathising and systemising are linked. Is a possible to make yourself more empathic?

Some scientists claim that our empathy and systemising abilities can be traced all the way back to prehistoric times. Find out more.

Eyes

This task tested your ability to judge people's emotions.
Your score: 8 out of 10
Average score for men: 6.6 out of 10
Average score for women: 6.6 out of 10

What does your result suggest?

If you scored 0 - 3: Do you think you're good at judging how another person is feeling? Your score suggests this doesn't come to you quite so naturally.

If you scored 4 - 6: Your result suggests you have a balanced female-male brain and find it neither easy nor difficult to judge people's emotions.

If you scored 7 - 10: Your result suggests you are a good empathiser, sensitive to other people's emotions. Women generally fall into this category.

Professor Baron-Cohen at the University of Cambridge says that people usually perform better than they expect to on this test.

Men often think a person's eyes are sending signals of desire when that's not the case at all. Find out more.

Part 4

Fingers

We asked you to measure your ring and index fingers. Your ratios came to:
Right Hand: 0.92
Left Hand: 0.92

Average ratio for men: 0.982
Average ratio for women: 0.991

It's thought that your ratio is governed by the amount of testosterone you were exposed to in your mother's womb. The ratio of the length of your index finger to the length of your ring finger is set for life by as early as three months after conception. Even during puberty, when we experience intensive hormonal changes, the ratio stays the same.

Men generally have a ring finger that is longer than their index finger, which gives them a lower ratio than women, whose ring and index fingers are usually of equal length.

Studies have found that men and women with lots of brothers generally have more masculine finger ratios. Find out what other things scientists think our ratios may tell us.

Part 5

Faces

This task looked at how you rate the attractiveness of a series of faces. The images you looked at were digitally altered to create slight differences in masculinity.

Your choices suggest you prefer more masculine faces.

Highly masculinised male faces possess more extreme testosterone markers such as a long, broad and lower jaw, as well as more pronounced brow ridges and cheekbones.

3D shapes

This task tested your ability to mentally rotate 3D shapes.

Your score: 8 out of 12
Average score for men: 8.2 out of 12
Average score for women: 7.1 out of 12

What does your result suggest?

If you scored 0 - 6: Do you find yourself having to physically rotate a map to point in the direction in which you're travelling? This might explain why you scored in the lower range in the 3D shapes test. Twice as many women as men score in this category. Previous studies suggest that those with a female-type brain or with an arts background fall into this range.

If you scored 7 - 9: In past studies, 50 per cent of the people who scored in this range were women and 50 per cent were men.

If you scored 10 - 12: Are you an engineer or do you have a science background? People with these skills tend to score in this range. Past studies have concluded that people in this range have a more male brain.

Nearly a third of men who took this test got full marks, whereas less than 10 per cent of women managed the same. Find out why.

Words

This task looked at your verbal fluency.

Your score: you associated 11 word(s) with grey and you named 6 word(s) that mean happy. We are assuming that all the words you entered are correct.
Average score for men: 11.4 words total
Average score for women: 12.4 words total

What does your result suggest?

If you produced 1 - 5 words: You are more of the strong, silent type with a male brain. You probably find it easier to express yourself in non-verbal ways, preferring action rather than words.

If you produced 6 - 10 words: Most people in this range have a female-type brain.

Women are said to use both sides of the brain when doing verbal tasks while men mainly use their left side. Studies have shown that girls develop vocabulary faster than boys. This difference in brain power is caused by levels of pre-natal testosterone. Find out more .

Ultimatum

This task asked you how you would divide money.

If you had to split £50 with someone, you said you would demand £25

So far on the Sex ID test, men have demanded 51.6% (£25.80) of the pot and women have demanded 51.0% (£25.50), on average.

What does your response suggest?

Sex differences are small in this task. Demanding less than 60% of the pot (ie £30) is more typically female. Demanding more than 65% of the pot (ie £32.50) is more typically male.

Scientists believe that people with lower testosterone levels tend to take fewer risks so they are probably more willing to keep less for themselves. Those with higher testosterone levels tend to drive a harder bargain and are less compromising.

Men's testosterone levels fluctuate over the seasons and are at their lowest levels during the springtime. This is said to influence their bargaining power. Find out more about the role of testosterone.

I don't have the answer to your question, but....:)

This test was pretty accurate given my real-life abilities, too. In school I was really good at 2d geometry/calc/trig, even into the diff. equation space/time stuff (because my brain still processed that as 2d, with a component of time added into it), but I really sucked at multi-dimension calc.

The 3d stuff just doesn't come 'naturally' to me -- with this particular test, even, it's like my brain was really fuzzy -- I had to think really hard to visualize the shapes moving, it didn't come automatically for me; had I had enough time, I could have answered them correctly, but given the time constraints, I didn't even get through all of the 12 shapes!!! I think I only got through 9, and then forfeited the last 3. :-)

I don't have the answer to your question, but....:)

Me neither, but part of the reason is because I'm doing it at work. I had to fly through the angles (and obviously need more time to find no-meet horizons), whereas I had a bit more time with the rotation - and I need less time to rotate them.

Also, the transformation of 3d objects requires you to build something in your mind, whereas the angles are purely vision and referencing - I can probably build the model in my mind's eye far better than I can physically move objects around.

Judging from my ability to draw, I'd say that is very very true.

:D I'd be curious to hear it. But no pressure ;)

Seriously, maybe making it another topic (rather than cluttering this one up)? Or maybe it still fits here?

Dunno, but it'd be interesting.

Hm, not sure. I'm learning fast now the penalties for extraverting one's thoughts too much around here ;)

If y'all really want to know, I guess I'd do it... but I don't want people to think I'm wanting the attention or anything - I mean I don't not want it, I'm indifferent either way, but I sure don't want the flak I'm bound to get for some of the things I'll say.

So probably better if it's framed in an interview, sorta Q and A format, so people can ask specific questions and I'll try to answer them honestly and directly. That way I won't so easily get carried away with the Ne..

Just thought this abstract (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6TBX-4H16P9S-1/2/ae91dff18b1b99385054e3bf971d47f9)was interesting, in regards to the 2D:4D ratio.

Typical female 2nd-4th finger length (2D:4D) ratios in male-to-female transsexuals--possible implications for prenatal androgen exposure

Harald J. SchneiderCorresponding Author Contact Information, E-mail The Corresponding Author, Johanna Pickel and Gunter K. Stalla
Clinical Neuroendocrinology Group, Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, Kraepelinstrasse 10, 80804 Munich, Germany
Received 26 April 2005; revised 25 July 2005; accepted 26 July 2005. Available online 2 September 2005.

Prenatal exposure to androgens has been implicated in transsexualism but the etiology of the condition remains unclear. The ratio of the 2nd to the 4th (2D:4D) digit lengths has been suggested to be negatively correlated to prenatal androgen exposure. We wanted to assess differences in 2D:4D ratio between transsexuals and controls.

Sixty-three male-to-female transsexuals (MFT), 43 female-to-male transsexuals (FMT), and 65 female and 58 male controls were included in the study. Photocopies of the palms and digits of the hands were taken of all subjects and 2D:4D ratios were measured, according to standard published procedures.

Comparison between right-handed individuals revealed that the right-hand 2D:4D in MFT is higher than in control males but similar to that observed in control females. In FMT we found no differences in 2D:4D relative to control females. Our findings support a biological etiology of male-to-female transsexualism, implicating decreased prenatal androgen exposure in MFT. We have found no indication of a role of prenatal hormone exposure in female-to-male transsexualism.

Psychoneuroendocrinology
Volume 31, Issue 2, February 2006, Pages 265-269

To summate:
- M2F had 2D:4D ratios equitable to genetic females, not males.
- F2M also had 2D:4D ratios equitable to genetic females, not males.

IOW, M2F's potentially did not receive the typical level of androgens in the womb as other genetic males, which could help explain the gender dichotomy. No conclusions are drawn about F2M's.

Then again, there are contrary opinions (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6WGC-4KGPPKP-5&_user=10&_origUdi=B6TBX-4H16P9S-1&_fmt=high&_coverDate=11%2F30%2F2006&_rdoc=1&_orig=article&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=ff65aa9d0353f65f3306e4e28a43b69e) as well. :) (No easy answers or explanations of how all this could work!)

Your personal brain score: Its between 0 and 50 on the male side, 25 maybe?

Part 1

Angles
This task tested your ability to identify the angle of a line by matching it with its twin. This is a spatial task, which looks at how you picture space.

Your score: 17 out of 20
Average score for men: 15.1 out of 20
Average score for women: 13.3 out of 20

Spot the difference
This task tested your ability to identify which objects changed position. You lost points, if you incorrectly identified objects.

Your score: 71%
Average score for men: 39%
Average score for women: 46%

Hands

Emotions and Systems
This task looked at whether you prefer to empathise or systemise.

Empathising

Your empathy score is: 15 out of 20
Average score for men: 7.9 out of 20
Average score for women: 10.6 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

Empathisers are better at accurately judging other people's emotions and responding appropriately. If you scored 15 and above, you are very empathic and would be an ideal person to comfort people in a time of crisis. Women in general are better at empathising.

Systemising

Your systemising score is: 11 out of 20
Average score for men: 12.5 out of 20
Average score for women: 8.0 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

Systemisers prefer to investigate how systems work. A system can be a road map, flat pack furniture, or a mathematical equation – anything that follows a set of rules. A score of 15 and above suggests you're good at analysing or building systems. Men in general are better at systemising.

Eyes
This task tested your ability to judge people's emotions.

Your score: 3 out of 10
Average score for men: 6.6 out of 10
Average score for women: 6.6 out of 10

What does your result suggest?

If you scored 0 - 3: Do you think you're good at judging how another person is feeling? Your score suggests this doesn't come to you quite so naturally.

----------
I've never been good at reading eyes, and probably not much better at reading entrie faces, but I think I get a good feel from things like voice and word use. I also do a LOT better at reading someone if its someone I know where I can notice more subtle changes from their regular self.

Eyes do affect my impression of someone, but its more of a part of the whole picture and not something I can isolate. When I do read anythign from someones eyes its more a feeling of what type of person they are than what their mood is and I can't realy explain it (and could be very inaccurate as well as above).
----------

Fingers
We asked you to measure your ring and index fingers. Your ratios came to:

Right Hand: 0.94
Left Hand: 0.97

Average ratio for men: 0.982
Average ratio for women: 0.991
It's thought that your ratio is governed by the amount of testosterone you were exposed to in your mother's womb. The ratio of the length of your index finger to the length of your ring finger is set for life by as early as three months after conception. Even during puberty, when we experience intensive hormonal changes, the ratio stays the same.

Men generally have a ring finger that is longer than their index finger, which gives them a lower ratio than women, whose ring and index fingers are usually of equal length.

Faces
This task looked at how you rate the attractiveness of a series of faces. The images you looked at were digitally altered to create slight differences in masculinity.

Your choices suggest you prefer more feminine faces.

3D shapes
This task tested your ability to mentally rotate 3D shapes.

Your score: 11 out of 12
Average score for men: 8.2 out of 12
Average score for women: 7.1 out of 12

What does your result suggest?

If you scored 10 - 12: Are you an engineer or do you have a science background? People with these skills tend to score in this range. Past studies have concluded that people in this range have a more male brain.

----------
I did take several engineering classes as well as lots of draftign classes. If it was not for the pressure of a time limit, I probbaly would have gotten 12/12.
----------

Words
This task looked at your verbal fluency.

Your score: you associated 8 word(s) with grey and you named 4 word(s) that mean happy. We are assuming that all the words you entered are correct.

Average score for men: 11.4 words total
Average score for women: 12.4 words total

What does your result suggest?

----------
Again, time limits, grrr, my brain does NOT work well under time constraints.
----------

Ultimatum
This task asked you how you would divide money.

If you had to split 104.550 USD with someone, you said you would demand 41.8200 USD

So far on the Sex ID test, men have demanded 51.6% (53.9478 USD) of the pot and women have demanded 51.0% (53.3205 USD), on average.

What does your response suggest?

Sex differences are small in this task. Demanding less than 60% of the pot (ie 62.7300 USD) is more typically female. Demanding more than 65% of the pot (ie 67.9575 USD) is more typically male.

----------
Converted to USD since post was not working with GBP symbol.
It makes sense to me to offer someone the better side of a deal to me, and I'm not very materialistic to begin with so to me a 40/60 split in their favor seems fair to me and a good enough deal that only the most suspicious or purely chaotic person would decline.

I think I'm resurrecting this thread (is that a no-no?), but I found that it was one of the more interesting tests I've taken in a while.

Your Personal Brain Score: 0

Angles: 6 out of 20

This task tested your ability to identify the angle of a line by matching it with its twin. This is a spatial task, which looks at how you picture space.

If you scored 0 - 12: You have more of a female brain. Scientists believe that people with a female brain find it more difficult to judge the slope of a line because they're not wired for spatial tasks. In past studies, 65 per cent of people who scored in this range were women.

Spot the difference: 21%

This task tested your ability to identify which objects changed position. You lost points, if you incorrectly identified objects.

Hands:

Right thumb on top: This suggests the left half of your brain is dominant. Many studies have tried to establish whether there is a relationship between handedness and brain dominance. Some scientists believe that if you are left brain dominant, you would be more verbal and analytical.

Emotions and Systems:

This task looked at whether you prefer to empathise or systemise.
Empathising

Your empathy score is: 1 out of 20

Your systemising score is: 10 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

Systemisers prefer to investigate how systems work. A system can be a road map, flat pack furniture, or a mathematical equation – anything that follows a set of rules. A score of 15 and above suggests you're good at analysing or building systems. Men in general are better at systemising.

Eyes: 8 out of 10

This task tested your ability to judge people's emotions.

If you scored 7 - 10: Your result suggests you are a good empathiser, sensitive to other people's emotions. Women generally fall into this category.

Fingers:

We asked you to measure your ring and index fingers. Your ratios came to:

Right Hand: 0.96
Left Hand: 0.96

Average ratio for men: 0.982
Average ratio for women: 0.991

It's thought that your ratio is governed by the amount of testosterone you were exposed to in your mother's womb. The ratio of the length of your index finger to the length of your ring finger is set for life by as early as three months after conception. If you scored 10 - 12: Are you an engineer or do you have a science background? People with these skills tend to score in this range. Past studies have concluded that people in this range have a more male brain.

Words: (I didn't read the directions carefully on this one, so it didn't count some of my words)

This task looked at your verbal fluency.

you associated 5 word(s) with grey and you named 2 word(s) that mean happy. We are assuming that all the words you entered are correct.

What does your result suggest?

If you produced 1 - 5 words: You are more of the strong, silent type with a male brain. You probably find it easier to express yourself in non-verbal ways, preferring action rather than words.

Ultimatum:

This task asked you how you would divide money.

If you had to split £50 with someone, you said you would demand £25

What does your response suggest?

Sex differences are small in this task. Demanding less than 60% of the pot (ie £30) is more typically female. Demanding more than 65% of the pot (ie £32.50) is more typically male.

(my logic is that people generally follow a generous example - possibly more so than the example itself. By assessing the implications of another's actions; the receiver's intentions can be questioned if not changed.)

i.e. If someone gave up £49 of £50 for me that they received serendipitously, I would be more inclined to follow their example of altruism. However, if I had taken the £49, I would be more likely to squander it.

Hands
You said your left thumb was on top when you clasped your hands together.

Left thumb on top: This suggests the right half of your brain is dominant. Some studies theorise that as a right brain dominant person, you may excel in visual, spatial and intuitive processes.

Emotions and Systems

Systemising
Your systemising score is: 13 out of 20
Average score for men: 12.5 out of 20
Average score for women: 8.0 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

Eyes

This task tested your ability to judge people's emotions.
Your score: 6 out of 10
Average score for men: 6.6 out of 10
Average score for women: 6.6 out of 10

Right Hand: 1.06
Left Hand: 1.06

Your choices suggest you prefer more feminine faces.

Are you surprised at what researchers think they can learn from your answers? Find out more.

Part 6

3D shapes

This task tested your ability to mentally rotate 3D shapes.

Your score: 12 out of 12
Average score for men: 8.2 out of 12
Average score for women: 7.1 out of 12

Your score: you associated 3 word(s) with grey and you named 4 word(s) that mean happy.
